Potential Biden Gun Restrictions
From The Federalist:
Out of the myriad options a Biden administration will have to infringe on our constitutional protections, which will they choose first? Based on my experience with clients and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (AFT) as a firearms attorney, some recent news events, and a bit of firearm-industry intuition, I think the first things a Biden administration will do regarding guns if given the chance are:
- Banning pistol braces
- Banning homemade firearms/80 percent receivers
- Banning online firearm and ammunition sales
Shortly after the first bans, and if he has the help of the Senate, the next gun control measures will likely be:
- Banning “assault weaponsâ€
- Banning “high capacity†magazines
- Requiring universal background checks
Biden Team Member Advocates Restrictions on Free Speech
From NY Post:
He wrote: “All speech is not equal. And where truth cannot drive out lies, we must add new guardrails. I’m all for protecting ‘thought that we hate,’ but not speech that incites hate.â€
Stengel offered two examples of speech that he has an issue with: Quran burning and circulation of “false narratives†by Russia during the 2016 election.
Biden Team Working To Put ARs On NFA List
From Bearing Arms:
According to Oliva, members of the Biden transition team are already exploring options to place AR-15s and other modern sporting rifles under the National Firearms Act without legislation, instead using the regulatory power of the ATF to redefine the rifles themselves.
If They Can’t Ban Guns, Tax Them
From NRA-ILA:
Joe Biden – ludicrously marketed to Middle America as a “moderate†– plans to ban the manufacture, sale, and possession of a host of popular semiautomatic firearms, including the most popular one of all, the iconic AR-15. For those who already own such guns, Biden would extend an offer that could not be refused, except on pain of federal imprisonment: surrender them to the government for whatever compensation might be offered or pay $200 to register them in a national database. This $200 per unit tax would also apply to each firearm magazine that could hold more than 10 rounds.
So, for example, the owner of a single AR-15 with 5 standard capacity magazines who wanted to keep his or her property would be hit with a $1,200 tax bill. And this doesn’t even take into account any other registration and fingerprinting costs.
Facebook Admits It May Interfere In Election
From ArsTechnica:
Facebook has said it will take aggressive and exceptional measures to “restrict the circulation of content†on its platform if November’s presidential election descends into chaos or violent civic unrest.
So far, it has announced several new election misinformation and voter suppression policies in recent weeks, including stating that it will add cautionary labels to posts in which campaigns or candidates prematurely claim victory, for example.
Biden Says There’s No Individual Right To Arms
From NRA-ILA:
During a September 2019 “townhall†hosted by New Hampshire ABC affiliate WMUR, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden made clear that he does not believe the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms and that the U.S. Supreme Court decision in District of Columbia v. Heller was incorrect.
Biden Finally Condemns Riots After New Polling
From Bearing Arms:
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden finally condemned the ongoing violence in Kenosha, Wis. and cities across the country after his campaign initially “misjudged how important it was to the American people,†pollster and president of Maslansky & Partners, Lee Carter told “Fox & Friends Weekend†Sunday.
Why Ammo Makers Aren’t Increasing Production
From Bearing Arms:
They don’t want to get burned like in 2016, when sales surged to record levels only to implode on Election Day. Sales then were driven by fears of gun control fueled by mass shootings, but those fears evaporated with the election of President Trump, a Republican endorsed by the National Rifle Association. Gun sales plunged immediately after his election, resulting in layoffs and sliding stocks for Sturm, Ruger and Smith & Wesson.
Gaslighting About Kamala Harris Underway
From National Review:
Take this USA Today factcheck headlined “Kamala Harris didn’t say she’d send police to take firearms via executive order.†You may notice the highly narrow specificity of this debunking. It’s a little game political media like to play — the Associated Press miraculously ran almost an identical piece on the same day — in which reporters take a hyperbolic backbencher’s comments or a misleading social-media post — in this case, a Facebook post that is “gaining traction†— and use it as a strawman to deceive voters about one of the controversial positions of their favored politician.
Get Ready For Gun Control With Biden/Harris
From Guns.com:
Biden, a Pennsylvania-born former U.S. Senator from Delaware and the presumptive Democratic nominee, selected Harris this week after months of rumors that his campaign was in talks with the sitting first-term California senator. The news was greeted with applause by national gun control organizations such as the Brady Campaign, Giffords, and Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown group, with the latter expected to chip in $60 million to this year’s elections.Â
Biden’s Gun Control Hurts Working Class
From Washington Post:
Biden did shake the table in a different way in 2019 when he debuted his gun control platform. Later that year, when he bumbled into a heated exchange with a Detroit factory worker, who accused him of trying to “take away our guns,†right-wingers and gun rights groups gloated over the spectacle. But even now, after the world has changed several times over, it’s still hard to shake the feeling that that worker was right. To the dismay of firearm enthusiasts on the left, Biden is still coming for some people’s guns. It’s now just a matter of who’s going to have them snatched — and who isn’t.
They Want Confiscation
From Guns In The News:
But what the worker had said was not bull—- at all, and we can tell as much by looking at Biden’s own words. Asked last year by CNN’s Anderson Cooper whether “a Biden administration means they’re going to come for my guns,†Biden confirmed that it would. “Bingo!†Biden told Cooper, smiling. “You’re right if you have an assault weapon. The fact of the matter is, they should be illegal, period. Look, the Second Amendment doesn’t say you can’t restrict the kinds of weapons people can own.â€
Biden Goes Full Gun Confiscation
From The Federalist:
What’s more, the man accurately references comments Biden made at rally on March 2 while accepting the endorsement of Beto O’Rourke. Biden said, “I’m going to guarantee this is not the last you’ve seen of this guy,†referring to O’Rourke. “You’re going to take care of the gun problem with me. You’re going to be the one who leads this effort.â€
How else can one interpret that except as an endorsement of gun confiscation? After all, it was O’Rourke who in a September debate boasted, “Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.â€
