Constitutional Carry On Horizon In Alabama
From NRA-ILA:
The Alabama Senate could bring Senate Bill 4, Constitutional Carry, to the floor for a vote next week! SB 4, sponsored by Senate Gerald Allen (R-21), would recognize a law-abiding citizen’s unconditional Right to Keep and Bear Arms for self-defense in the manner they choose. Â
Dem Candidate Buttigieg Says Rifle Ban On The Table
From National Review:
“As somebody who is very familiar from my military training with weapons of war, somebody who carried a rifle and a pistol around a foreign land on order of the president, [I think] there are some weapons that just don’t belong in our neighborhoods in peace time in America,†he said during a campaign rally in Des Moines, Iowa
Gun Laws As Class Warfare On Poor
From The New York Times:
Though New Jersey has strict gun control laws, its firearms fees have not changed since the mid-1960s, making it a bargain for gun owners. A firearm identification card costs $5, while a permit to own a firearm is $2. A permit to carry a gun costs $20.
Mr. Murphy, a Democrat, has proposed fees that would be among the highest in the country. An identification card would cost $100, an owner’s permit would be $50 and a carry permit $400.
What To Do During A “Red Flag Order”
From The Truth About Guns:
These “extreme risk protection orders†or “gun violence restraining orders†— whatever they may be called in your state — while grossly unconstitutional, are temporary. Every state where this is law has a specified hearing date, usually about ten to fourteen days after confiscation. At that hearing, the gun owner who’s been temporarily stripped of his or her gun rights has an opportunity to contest the initial complaint in front of a judge. If the judge adjudicates the complaint as unfounded, your rights are restored and you’ll soon get your guns back.
Anti-gunner: Make Gun Owners Pay To Exercise Gun Rights
From Newsday:
The ISRA is livid that everyone who applies for a new FOID card or renews one would have to be fingerprinted. The cost of this would be “astronomical, up to $250.†In addition, the ISRA says, applicants would have to pay for their own background check, costing another $100 or more.
But who says that the people who choose to own firearms shouldn’t have to go into their pocketbooks every now and then? Gun owners have no problem shelling out $600 for the latest Smith & Wesson. But if you ask them to pay $10 — the current cost of a FOID card — they go ballistic. They are perfectly satisfied allowing taxpayers who would never own a gun to supplement the administrative costs for their freedom.
Public Venue To Ban Gun Shows
From Guns.com:
Located just outside of San Fransisco, the historic venue is owned by the state Department of Food and Agriculture, and its board said this week they will discontinue all gun shows beginning Jan. 1, 2020. Cow Palace has been the subject of a number of failed bills in the state legislature over the years — brought by Bay Area lawmakers and backed by groups such as the Brady Campaign — to halt the otherwise popular shows.
Citigroup Continues To Discriminate Against Gun Industry
From The Federalist:
Citigroup’s getting asked some hard questions about the fiscal sanity of their decision to discriminate against firearms businesses, and their answers aren’t likely to soothe investors.
Justin Danhof, general counsel for the National Center Public Policy Research and Free Enterprise Project, posed a simple question in a shareholder meeting: “Can you tell us—your investors—exactly how much money we stand to lose because of this decision, and explain why you have this right while Warren Buffet has this wrong?â€
ACLU Not Living Up To Its Name
From Reason:
When the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey announced its lawsuit on behalf of two public high school students who were suspended because they posted pictures of themselves at a gun range on Snapchat, the first reply on Twitter congratulated the organization for “defending all of the civil liberties.” But while the ACLU is commendably willing to defend the First Amendment rights of gun owners and Second Amendment advocates, the national organization still takes the position that, contrary to what the Supreme Court has said, the Constitution does not guarantee an individual right to armed self-defense.
Kids Suspended For Gun Pictures
From Reason:
Two male students at Lacey Township High School in New Jersey posted photos of guns on Snapchat. One of the boys captioned his photo with “hot stuff” and “if there’s ever a zombie apocalypse, you know where to go.”
The photos were not taken at school. They were not taken during school hours. They did not reference a school. They auto-deleted after 24 hours, which was well before the school became aware of them. And yet, administrators at Lacey Township High School suspended the boys for three days, and also gave them weekend detention.
Gun Control Hidden In Violence Against Women Act
From Reason:
The NRA, in other words, does not care about violence against women, or at least it does not care enough to accept the new gun control provisions in the House version of the bill. This blithe dismissal of the NRA’s legitimate complaints about those provisions makes Klobuchar, a former prosecutor, sound like an authoritarian demagogue who equates concern about civil liberties with indifference to crime.
When Laws Fail, Create More Laws
From The Truth About Guns:
Whenever the massive, expensive, inefficient, rights-impinging jobs programs that operate this country’s gun control bureaucracies fail, the solution is always to enact still more restrictions on law-abiding gun owners. So the Illinois State Police’s failure in issuing the Aurora shooter (a felon) a FOID card now means the rest of the state’s gun owners will have even more hurdles to jump in order to keep and bear arms. Same as it ever was.
Dem Pressures Bank CEO To Do More On Guns
From Yahoo News:
However, Maloney’s tone shifted when she directed her questions to Dimon. The congresswoman referenced Dimon’s widely read annual letter released last week in which he wrote about JPMorgan having to sometimes turn down clients “with low character†as a way to be a “responsible†bank.
Maloney used excerpts of the letter to grill Dimon, saying that “actions speak louder than words on guns…[and] from what I can tell, these are just words to you.”
No Reciprocity Is Hurting Truck Drivers
From Bearing Arms:
Thousands of truck drivers are breaking the law by carrying firearms across state lines, but is the problem the truck driver or the laws?
“It’s dangerous out there. You never can tell,†said Cliff Brown, a truck driver from Florida.
California Had Some More Freedom For A Week
From The Federalist:
Late last month, federal judge Roger T. Benitez struck down a California law in place since 2000 that banned the sale of gun magazines holding more than 10 rounds. The next day, San Diego firearms owners were jamming the phone lines of every gun store in town, desperate to lay hands on the larger, freshly legal pistol magazines before the People’s Republic of California pulled new shenanigans and made them illegal again.
Guns And Civic Virtue
From FEE.org:
Owning and shooting a gun promotes self-reliance, personal responsibility, and community. Whenever I go to a gun range, I see parents teaching their young children how to shoot, men instructing their significant others, and people of all colors and ethnicities enjoying themselves. Nervous skeptics usually end up leaving with a big smile on their faces.
