Texas House Passes Constitutional Carry Bill

House Bill 1927, spearheaded by state Rep. Matt Schaefer, R-Tyler, would nix the requirement for Texas residents to obtain a license to carry handguns if they’re not prohibited by state or federal law from possessing a gun. Texans under current state law must generally be licensed to carry handguns, either openly or concealed.
Iowa Becomes 19th State With Constitutional Carry

Iowa becomes the 19th state and 3rd state this year to adopt permitless or constitutional carry. What a change since the times when only Vermont had constitutional carry and a number of states didn’t allow carry in any form.
Texas Rep Introduces Constitutional Carry

Louisiana Constitutional Carry

House Bill number 72 is the “Louisiana Constitutional Carry Act of 2020.â€Â H.B. 72 says that you may carry a concealed firearm unless you are a prohibited person under state and federal law. This is commonly called constitutional carry or permitless carry. In short, if it was legal for you to get a permit and carry in public then the bill allows you to carry in public. If it was illegal for you to carry in public, then it remains illegal for you to carry in public.

An Oklahoma County judge on Wednesday afternoon denied an attempt by opponents of Oklahoma’s new permitless carry law to stop the legislation from taking effect on Friday. The last minute legal maneuver was the latest attempt to block the law by State Rep. Jason Lowe, who claimed that the bill authorizing permitless carry violates a state law requiring legislation to deal with a single subject. It’s an argument without merit, and Judge Don Andrews declined to issue an injunction that would stop the law from taking effect.

South Dakota Now Constitutional Carry State

South Dakota is the 14th state to enact such a law for both residents and visitors. Pennington County Capt. Marty Graves tells KOTA-TV he thinks it’s a good thing for gun owners. Graves says it will lighten the work load for his office because it will no longer issue the permits and collect the fees.
Constitutional Carry Bill In Ohio

The measure, HB 178, eliminates the state’s concealed weapons license requirement and codifies the right of a person who is 21 or older and not otherwise prohibited from possessing a firearm to carry a handgun without first getting a CWL. The bill won the 7-4 approval of the House Federalism Committee this week.
Bill Introduced To Prevent Conflict With Gun-Free Schools Act

The Constitutional Carry States’ Rights Act was filed last week by U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds, a South Dakota Republican, who stressed the state’s pending permitless concealed carry law could pose an issue for those passing near school zones. In short, the federal Gun-Free School Zones Act bans carrying firearms within 1,000 feet of a school zone, with an exception for those with a carry permit. Supporters of the bill fear that those practicing legal constitutional carry may not meet that exception.

Kentucky Passes Constitutional Carry

South Dakota Passes Constitutional Carry

As of July 1st this year, a new law allowing both South Dakota residents and visitors to carry concealed handguns called Constitutional Carry will go into effect. Gov. Kristi Noem tweeted yesterday that she will sign the bill today, which had passed the House and Senate within the past few weeks.
South Dakota is the 13th state to pass such a law. The state has restored the rights of its citizens to protect themselves however they see fit without government interference.
South Dakota Senate Passes Constitutional Carry

The measure, Senate Bill 47, zipped through the chamber’s judiciary committee last week and sailed to an easy 23-11 victory this week in the Republican-controlled body, heading to the state House for further consideration. The move would repeal the requirement that those carrying a concealed pistol or revolver first obtain a license to do so.
