New Surefire Hi-Cap Mags for M4/M16/AR15
Posted by Gary in Accessories, News, Warrior Tools on 15/Dec/2010 15:42
Press Release:
New SureFire® Hi-Cap Magazines to Provide Firepower Advantages in Combat
Fountain Valley, CA — SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of high-end illumination tools and tactical products, is proud to announce the release of its hi-capacity 60- and 100-round (STANAG 4179) aluminum magazines for .223/5.56mm NATO M4/M16/AR15-style firearms. These new high-cap magazines (HCMs)—dubbed the MAG5-60 and MAG5-100—are designed to provide military units with an overwhelming tactical advantage in the delivery of firepower.
“In the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, ambushes are commonplace, and the outcome is often determined in the first 30 seconds,” said Don Alexander, SureFire’s Director of Military Sales and retired Special Forces operator with six combat tours. “Firepower and the ability to stay in the fight are key. These magazines will reduce soldier vulnerability by keeping them in the fight for longer periods of time, with less downtime spent on reloads.”
In battle, it typically takes the average soldier four seconds to reload his weapon and reacquire a target, valuable time that could be spent engaging threat targets. At best, 30-round magazines allow a soldier to fire no more than 150 rounds in 30 seconds. SureFire’s 60-round high-cap magazine increases that figure to 240 rounds; its 100-rounder to 293 rounds. And both will support military units planning to incorporate full-auto firepower to more of their operators.
SureFire HCMs easily and securely fit into the host weapon, with the bolt closed, when loaded with the maximum round count. The design of the magazine takes into account the allowable tolerances of cartridges manufactured to NATO and SAAMI specifications. A 4×2 quad-stack configuration features a revolutionary internal spring and follower system designed to be more reliable than current standard MILSPEC USGI 30-round magazines. This proprietary internal design also allows SureFire HCMs to be stored indefinitely while fully loaded, in preparation for deployment, which means individual units can be issued ammo supply crates with pre-loaded magazines instead of empty mags and ammo cans, another potential lifesaving benefit in critical-response situations.
The MAG5-60 will fit into most nylon pouches with Velcro® cover flaps intended to hold two standard 30-round magazines, but double magazine pouches with stitched partitions may require some alteration. Both the 60- and 100-round HCMs can be disassembled for periodic cleaning or as required. The magazine floor plate can be easily removed from the body using a punch, the tip of a cartridge, or a variety of common tools.
New Etymotic Hearing Protection/Enhancement
Posted by Gary in Accessories, Warrior Tools on 21/Nov/2010 18:16
From: MIT Technology Review
Etymotic’s BlastPLG earplugs are designed to safeguard troops from long-term hearing damage without compromising their “situational awareness.”
… Remember that scene in Black Hawk Down where a soldier literally goes deaf because his buddy is shooting a giant machine gun right next to his head? The movie played it for laughs, but military hearing loss is no joke. According to high-end audio company Etymotic Research, “an alarmingly high percentage of deployed soldiers” sustain permanent hearing loss and tinnitus.
Earplugs are the obvious solution, but you can’t exactly stay frosty on patrol when you’ve got foam jammed in your ears blocking everything out. Etymotic’s EB15 BlastPLG earplugs attempt to square the circle by electronically attentuating sudden blast sounds while letting normal decibel levels through — or even enhancing them.
The $450 price tag makes sense when you consider that the EB15 is a state of the art hearing aid and earplug at the same time.

Drag And Draw Gun Vault
Posted by Jack Sinclair in Accessories, Warrior Tools on 7/Aug/2010 00:05
“You keep a handgun around for personal protection and defense of your home. And you realize that you’ve got to keep it loaded if it’s going to do you any good. So you keep it loaded and you keep it handy, where you can get at it quickly… and you worry about someone- a child, for example- accidentally getting shot.
If your handgun is loaded and handy, it is also dangerous. What have you done to make sure a child can’t get a hold of it?
The Drag And Draw Gun Vault is a gun vault with entry access by way of your unique fingerprint. Can be opened in seconds. Scans and recognizes your fingerprint in less than one second. This means you can have a loaded gun in your hand in the blink of an eye.”
The Knoxx recoil reduction stock
Posted by Jack Sinclair in Accessories, Long Guns on 3/Aug/2010 19:47
“The Knoxx stock uses fairly massive internal springs to absorb and spread out the recoil pulse of the heavy hitting shotgun. The kick is still there, but instead of a painful jab it’s reduced to a long ‘shove’.
This technology shines in two areas; Letting recoil sensitive people shoot the thumper without fear, and aiding in shear controllability of the shotgun.
It’s hard to argue that heavy recoil reduces ones ability to control a weapon, and mitigating the recoil helps the shooter stay on target. This is the point behind every rifle muzzle brake and ported competition pistol.
The Knoxx recoil reduction stock is indeed a gadget, but unlike so many… this one actually works.
On top of that, it has passed the ‘Carteach0 Gorilla of Doom Destruction Testing’. In plainer words, I attempted to break the stock in some very unreasonable ways. By simply pulling it apart with my bear hands (pun intended), and even beating it against a range bench (shotgun won, bench lost).”
http://carteach0.blogspot.com/2010/06/holy-shrinking-shotguns-batman-range.html
“I can shoot power point slugs all day long without injuring my shoulder..
before i put this stock on, I literally couldn’t get through 10 rounds before wanting to switch to bird shot..
I’m NOT kidding it makes that much of a difference…this is a MUST for ANY shotgun..”
“This product is amazing. I’m a small woman who can now shoot full 3″ Magnum Slugger loads with one hand!!! AMAZING! There is almost no felt recoil what so ever and target reacquisition is incredibly fast.
I’d highly recommend this product to everyone.”
New Smaller Suppressors from SureFire
Posted by Gary in Accessories, News, Warrior Tools on 20/Jul/2010 14:16
Press Release
Fountain Valley, CA — SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of high-end illumination tools and tactical products, have released their Mini and Micro suppressors. Both work with existing SureFire flash hider and muzzle brake suppressor adapters, but come in a significantly smaller package than previous models.
“Adding length and weight to a personal weapon system is usually an unwanted modification,” says Barry Dueck, director of the SureFire Suppressor Division. “These two new suppressors were designed with that thought in mind. We’re trying to reduce the users overall signature, not just the firearm’s.”
At 5.0 inches in length and 14.0 ounces in weight, the MINI suppressor is SureFire’s new flagship 5.56mm suppressor. It provides the same performance as its predecessor, the SureFire FA556-212 suppressor, but at one inch less in length and two ounces lighter in weight.
At 4.0 inches long and 12.0 ounces in weight, the compact and lightweight SureFire MICRO suppressor is designed to attenuate the sound signature of a carbine or rifle to a safe level, as well as reduce the dust and flash signature while minimizing added weight and length to s host weapon with a 14.5” barrel or longer. The MICRO, like the MINI, features the Fast Attach® system for rapid attachment/detachment on any weapon equipped with a compatible SureFire suppressor adapter. Thanks to SureFire’s overlapping mount, only 1.75 inches are added to the length of the rifle.
SureFire’s proprietary suppressor design not only reduces the sound levels and muzzle flash of a fired weapon, helping to protect an operator’s hearing and keep his location concealed, it also typically increases projectile velocity and improves a weapon’s accuracy. This is SureFire’s philosophy of Total Signature Reduction™. Contrary to existing suppressor models, which typically degrade performance of a 1-2 MOA (Minute of Angle) rifle to 3-4 MOA—sometimes as much as 8 MOA, SureFire suppressors typically improve grouping sizes.
Most suppressors also cause a shift in a weapon’s point-of-zero when attached or detached. But under fire, an operator seldom has the time to re-zero his weapon after attaching a suppressor. With a SureFire Suppressor, there is no need to re-zero the weapon. Its Fast-Attach mechanism locks the suppressor onto the firearm in the same position every time, producing a negligible, repeatable point-of-impact shift. And SureFire Suppressors are as durable as the barrels they’re mounted on, making fulltime suppressor use not only probable but practical.
All SureFire suppressors includes a nylon cleaning brush and a padded, ballistic nylon MOLLE pouch for storage. The suppressors are available in a black or dark earth finish. For more information or to find a SureFire suppressor dealer, visit www.surefire.com.
