Lever Action Cartridges Still In Use Today

Hunting with a lever-action rifle is a unique experience; in this day of high-magnification optics and high ballistic coefficient bullets, the lever rifles seem to be a throwback to a bygone era. However, looking at a good number of hunting scenarios—especially our deer-hunting here in the Eastern U.S., the thick forests of the Pacific Northwest and the many hunts over feeders throughout the Southern U.S.—the lever guns and their associated cartridges pose no real handicap. Quite obviously, a round-nosed bullet from one of the slower, rimmed cartridges isn’t the best choice for taking a buck across a bean field, but for shots inside of 150 yards, where the majority of my shots in New York have been, these guns and their cartridges work quite well.

How Will Chevron Affect The ATF?

The Supreme Court’s decision to scrap the Chevron Doctrine doesn’t automatically mean that the ATF’s rules on unfinished frames and receivers, pistol stabilizing braces, and who is “engaged in the business” of dealing firearms will be thrown out by the federal judiciary, but it definitely makes it more difficult for the DOJ to defend the rules going forward.
No longer can the agency reliy on judges giving the agency the benefit of the doubt when it come to interpreting supposedly ambiguous language. Unless the ATF is strictly adhering to the underlying statute when crafting its rules (which has not been the case in recent years) the odds are good that the rule will fall.
California Now Requires Sales Code For Gun Stores
This new law is a workaround to the Fourth Amendment by requiring companies to “tattle” on their customers to the government.

Advocates believe this measure could help identify suspicious purchases and prevent mass shootings.

Czech Group Get Approval To Buy US Ammo Brands

The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States has given the green light to the proposed acquisition of Vista Outdoor’s varied and iconic ammunition brands to the Czechoslovak Group.
In a release from Vista on Wednesday, the company announced it had received written notice from CFIUS that the federal regulator has concluded its review and investigation of the proposed transaction “and has determined that there are no unresolved national security concerns.” The clearance by CFIUS was the final governmental regulatory approval required for the deal to proceed. U.S. Federal Trade Commission had previously cleared the acquisition from an antitrust perspective.

“Just as private companies have abandoned the toxic advice of DEI consultants and programs, military leaders should end social engineering based on critical race theory and restore approaches that promote character and merit,” said Donald Critchlow, Director of the Center for American Institutions at ASU.
NY Comptroller Says ShotSpotter A Failure

ShotSpotter has failed to live up to its promises in another major US City, according to the Comptroller of New York City. The Comptroller’s Office recommended that the City not renew its contract with the David Chipman-linked company when it expires in December.
