Lawmakers Continue To Go After Banks

State legislatures, however, are finding ways to pressure banks. Recently,  California Assemblywoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Los Angeles) introduced a resolution to urge  “banks that have open demand accounts with the state to evaluate their relationships with gun manufacturers and adopt lending practices that protect citizens before profits.â€Â The resolution states the California has “demand accounts with six banks that concurrently lend to gun manufacturers, which are Bank of America, Citibank, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Union Bank MUFG, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo & Co.â€Â According to Kamlager-Dove, “California has more gun laws than any other state in the union.â€Â Hence, instead of proposing new laws, Kamlager-Dove’s resolution “intends to affect the proliferation of guns by urging six nationally chartered banks to curtail their relationships with gun manufacturers. If major banks refuse to extend credit to gun manufacturers, borrowing costs for gun manufacturers would likely increase, which could reduce industry investment in additional capacity or new business lines.†Moreover, “such a result could reduce the proliferation of guns not only in California, but also across state lines.â€
Compromise Always Means More Restrictions

When people ask me what I would be willing to compromise on, I give them a simple answer: I would trade tougher background checks in exchange for nationwide concealed-carry reciprocity. If we are going to create a system where every gun purchaser is fully vetted through the FBI’s background check system, then we should give those vetted and trusted gun owners the right to carry their guns nationwide.
Gun control advocates usually gasp when I make this recommendation, as if the thought of actually having to agree to pro-gun reforms has never crossed their minds. The answer I get is almost always a hard “no,†and that tells me everything I need to know about the gun control movement’s intentions. Every gun control bill that passes is just one step toward an ultimate goal.
Harris Says Confiscate Guns Of Bigots

Sen. Kamala Harris (D–Calif.), who is seeking the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, says that if elected she will push legislation that would authorize federal courts to issue gun confiscation orders against people who express opinions that may indicate an intent to commit a hate crime. These “domestic terrorism prevention orders” would “temporarily restrict a person’s access to guns if they exhibit clear evidence of dangerousness,” including “violent racist threats or anti-immigrant manifestos.”
“Do Something” Means Do What I Want
Such is the case with the laws now being pushed, especially red flag laws and universal background checks. Like the PATRIOT Act, and other tragedy-driven pieces of ultimately tragic legislation, these proposals offend our rights, our fundamental assumptions about a person’s innocence, and create new opportunities for abuse.Â

Gun Control Groups Flood Supreme Court Case With New Arguments

Over a dozen new legal briefs were posted Monday in the case brought by gun owners challenging the constitutionality of the Big Apple’s “premises permit†scheme, a local New York City law that drastically restricts the ability to leave one’s premises with a firearm. The new filings come from five Senate Democrats — Sheldon Whitehouse, Mazie Hirono, Richard Blumenthal, Richard Durbin, and Kirsten Gillibrand as well as 139 Dems in the House, with the lawmakers taking New York’s side.
Fees And Taxes Hurt The Poor

San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo believes residents in his city should have to pay for the privilege of exercising their 2nd Amendment rights, a measure that’s not only patently unconstitutional but would also cause some lower-income Americans to lose their rights, not because of a felony conviction or mental ajudication, but because of the balance of their bank account.
Walmart Employees Walkout Over Guns

Roughly 40 employees walked out of a Walmart e-commerce office in California on Wednesday to protest the retail giant’s gun sale policy after a deadly mass shooting at one of its stores in El Paso, Texas.
According to The Washington Post, the employees left their offices for about 15 minutes and gathered outside the building, where they took a moment of silence.
Other company locations in New York City and Portland, Ore., also reportedly saw employees take similar actions on Wednesday to call on the company to change its policies.
Notice no employees who work at a physical store walked out. Only people who work behind a computer and on the coasts.
CA Background Check For Ammo Challenged

California’s new statewide law requiring background checks to purchase ammunition is facing a legal challenge supported by the California Rifle and Pistol Association. Among other complaints, the suit says the law, which went into effect last month, violates Californians’ Second Amendment rights.
Another Death From “Red Flag” Law

Last November a 61-year-old Maryland man was shot dead while police were trying to serve him a “red flag†order.

Ignorant Republicans Support “Assault Rifle” Ban

Most Republicans would support legislation banning assault-style weapons, a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll found Wednesday — a finding that contradicts President Donald Trump’s claim earlier the same day that there’s “no political appetite†for such restrictions.
The poll found that nearly 70 percent of all voters would back such a ban. Support for an assault-weapons ban was higher, at 86 percent, among Democrats, who have been pushing for new restrictions on the firearms in the wake of two mass shootings over the weekend.

ATF Nominee Does Not Support More Restrictions

Dianne Feinstein, D-Calf., and Mike Lee, R-Utah, interchangeably grilled Canterbury about his stance on a federal ban on “assault weapons†and their associated magazines, as well as universal background checks, handgun waiting periods and other questions of gun policy. Canterbury responded that, while the FOP supported such gun control measures in the 1990s, the lobby group presently does not espouse such changes to current law. When pressed on his personal feelings on such restrictive concepts, Canterbury said he is “a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and I believe in the right to bear arms.â€
