Trump Leaning Towards New Gun Laws

“We’re doing a package,” he told reporters. “….’That’s irrespective of what happened yesterday in Texas.” He was referring to a mass shooting in which a gunman killed at least seven people and wounded 22 around Odessa. This followed other recent mass shootings in August, including one in El Paso, Texas and another in Dayton, Ohio.

This has to stop. I’m proposing that we campaign to reduce gun violence, and to meet our constitutional duty, by requiring that every member of the militia — which, of course, we’ll redefine to eliminate the obvious sexism and make it all adults — must own at least one long gun, one handgun, and 1,000 rounds of ammunition for each, or pay an annual $1,000 tax for failing to do so. As I pointed out the last time I brought this up, the Supreme Court’s decision on Obamacare makes it clear that it’s constitutional to require people to buy a product, so that shouldn’t be a problem. And, federal law would override the local laws in rogue cities like Chicago that prevent members of the militia from fulfilling their constitutional duty.

Lawmakers Continue To Go After Banks

State legislatures, however, are finding ways to pressure banks. Recently,  California Assemblywoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Los Angeles) introduced a resolution to urge  “banks that have open demand accounts with the state to evaluate their relationships with gun manufacturers and adopt lending practices that protect citizens before profits.â€Â The resolution states the California has “demand accounts with six banks that concurrently lend to gun manufacturers, which are Bank of America, Citibank, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Union Bank MUFG, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo & Co.â€Â According to Kamlager-Dove, “California has more gun laws than any other state in the union.â€Â Hence, instead of proposing new laws, Kamlager-Dove’s resolution “intends to affect the proliferation of guns by urging six nationally chartered banks to curtail their relationships with gun manufacturers. If major banks refuse to extend credit to gun manufacturers, borrowing costs for gun manufacturers would likely increase, which could reduce industry investment in additional capacity or new business lines.†Moreover, “such a result could reduce the proliferation of guns not only in California, but also across state lines.â€

It’s true. Instead of admitting that none of their their dire predictions have come to pass, three special snowflake educators are refusing to even talk about it. Professors Lisa Moore, Jennifer Glass and Mia Carter of UT-Austin stayed stum when asked about two years of campus carry, not to mention the conspicuous lack of blood on campus, stifled speech or blubbering students.
Compromise Always Means More Restrictions

When people ask me what I would be willing to compromise on, I give them a simple answer: I would trade tougher background checks in exchange for nationwide concealed-carry reciprocity. Every gun control bill that passes is just one step toward an ultimate goal.

Potential petitioners include police officers, prosecutors, blood relatives, in-laws, current and former spouses, current and former housemates, current and former girlfriends or boyfriends, people who have produced a child with the respondent, and school administrators or their designees, such as teachers, coaches, and guidance counselors. The “school personnel” covered by the law can even report a former student if he graduated within the previous six months.

As if the numerous, egregious constitutional violations were not enough, however, the “red flag†initiative clearly does not even fulfill its intended purpose. Take Indiana, for example. While a 7.5% decrease
in firearm-related suicides did follow the passage of the “Jake Laird†law (the state’s own version of “red flagâ€), no reduction in overall suicides (firearm and non-firearm-related) occurred. Yet “red flag” laws continue to be touted as effective deterrents against homicide and suicide, despite the overwhelming amount of evidence that speaks to the contrary.

Kamala Harris (D–Calif.), who is seeking the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, says that if elected she will push legislation that would authorize federal courts to issue gun confiscation orders against people who express opinions that may indicate an intent to commit a hate crime. These “domestic terrorism prevention orders” would “temporarily restrict a person’s access to guns if they exhibit clear evidence of dangerousness,” including “violent racist threats or anti-immigrant manifestos.”
