ACLU Rewrites History of Blacks and Guns

These laws were put into place to hinder black people from using arms to rise up and break the shackles of slavery. But throughout the history of American chattel slavery, black heroes did use guns to free themselves and others. The most notable example of this was Harriet Tubman, who carried a pistol on her missions to free slaves as well as a sharp-shooting rifle during the Civil War. Mary Fields (better known as Stagecoach Mary) was a former slave and one of the first two black women to serve as a “star route” mail carrier. She famously used two guns to defend herself and the mail from thieves along her route.
Judge Nixes Hawaii Gun Laws

The lawsuit centers around Hawaii’s requirements on gun owners along with Honolulu Police Department’s registration and gun policies. Gun owners must apply for a firearm permit in person at the central police station on Oahu. This rule means that a gun must travel to the police station in Honolulu to apply for a gun permit no matter where they live on the island. The resident must then return to the station in person 14 days later to pick up the permit. Once the person acquires a firearm, they must then again return to the station with the gun to register it with the police department.
Three Quarters Of Americans Support Gun Rights

Here are some of the takeaways from the March ’21 polling.
- From Rasmussen’s last survey in 2018, support for the 2A has grown. (Up 4%)
- 76% believe the 2A guarantees a right to own a gun, only 16% disagree, and 8% are unsure.
- 62% are opposed to repealing the 2A, with 27% calling for repeal and 11% unsure.
Washington Post Spins More People Buying Guns As Bad

Jabril Battle, a 28-year-old account representative at a financial services company in Los Angeles, had always believed that “anyone who had a gun was a gun nut,†he said. “I really bought into the whole idea that the more people have guns … the more likely it is for people to start killing each other.â€
But as the pandemic paralyzed the nation, Battle said, “I just saw how crazy people got.†He found himself conjuring the worst scenarios: “I was like, if my block has 10 houses, how many people in these houses have guns? If the food and water gets cut off, [if] supplies run out … what does that look like? Is this going to be a ‘Mad Max’ situation? Like ‘The Walking Dead,’ but not with the zombies?
John Whitehead: Disarm The Police State, Not Citizens

When it comes to gun rights in particular, and the rights of the citizenry overall, the U.S. government has adopted a “do what I say, not what I do†mindset. Nowhere is this double standard more evident than in the government’s attempts to arm itself to the teeth, all the while viewing as suspect anyone who dares to legally own a gun, let alone use one in self-defense.
Indeed, while it still technically remains legal to own a firearm in America, possessing one can now get you pulled over, searched, arrested, subjected to all manner of surveillance, treated as a suspect without ever having committed a crime, shot at, and killed. (This same rule does not apply to law enforcement officials, however, who are armed to the hilt and rarely given more than a slap on the wrists for using their weapons against unarmed individuals.)
Breakdown Of Judge Benitez’s 2A Ruling

This case is not about extraordinary weapons lying at the outer limits of Second Amendment protection. The banned “assault weapons†are not bazookas, howitzers, or machine guns. Those arms are dangerous and solely useful for military purposes. Instead, the firearms deemed “assault weapons†are fairly ordinary, popular, modern rifles. This is an average case about average guns used in average ways for average purposes.
Rep. Greene Introduces Bill To Abolish ATF

The legislation would rescind all ATF regulations put in place after Aug. 1, 2020, forbid the government body from hiring, and require top authorities to publicize an itemized list of all confiscated firearms and ammunition, which will then be auctioned to the public, according to a copy of the bill, the Daily Caller reported. The proposal would also transfer the bureau’s regulatory power to the FBI.
The move has been named the Brian A. Terry Memorial Eliminate the ATF Act in remembrance of Terry, a former Marine and Border Patrol agent who was shot and killed by criminals during a controversial sting operation, dubbed “Fast and Furious,” during which ATF authorities permitted illegal gun sales to track suspected purchasers in Mexican drug cartels.
Democrats Introduce Bill To License And Register All Handguns

Plainly titled the Handgun Licensing and Registration Act of 2021, the proposal would require that any handgun owner be at least 21 years of age. Before their mandatory license is issued for a pistol or revolver, would-be handgun owners would first complete approved firearms training and clear a background check after submitting fingerprints and photographs. Licenses would have to be renewed every five years.Â
Time To Rectify Heller

Heller adopted the nonsense whole cloth. Ironically, the opinion was written by Justice Scalia, renowned as the court’s great originalist. Ironic, in that there is nothing in the legislative history of the Second Amendment to support a “common use†test.
As Judge Benitez wrote, “The command of the Amendment is that the right to keep and bear arms ‘shall not be infringed.’†Not some arms, but “Arms.†And not “infringed too much,†but “infringed†at all.
Gun Buybacks Don’t Reduce Crime

Anti Gunners Freak Out Over New Constitutional Carry Laws

Tennessee lawmakers recently passed legislation that allows adults to carry handguns without a permit or required training, making the Volunteer State less safe and endangering the lives of citizens, families and communities in cities and towns across the state.
FPC Attacks ATF Rule As Unlawful

Today, the Department of Justice officially released a notice of proposed rulemaking announcing a new ATF rule which would, among other attacks on firearm owners, builders, and dealers, redefine the terms “receiver†and “frame.†FPC previously issued a statement regarding a leaked, draft version of the new rule in mid-April. Gun Banners Want Guns Off TV

I suppose we should be thankful when anti-gun activists come up with a proposal that doesn’t directly infringe on our right to keep and bear arms, but I still can’t get behind the not-so-bright idea from a couple of higher ups at the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. Research director Dan Romer and Patrick E. Jamieson, who’s the head of the center’s Annenberg Health and Risk Communication Institute say it’s time to reduce shootings by “giving guns on TV the cigarette treatment,†claiming that one way to reduce demand for firearms is to stop showcasing them on television.
