California Magazine Ban Blocked
From NRA-ILA:
The battle to secure Second Amendment rights is ever-evolving. On Monday, gun owners were dealt a disappointing blow with the Supreme Court’s refusal to review the legal scheme that empowers California counties to effectively ban the bearing of arms (see related article). Yet by Thursday, Second Amendment advocates were cheering a federal court’s opinion blocking enforcement of California’s draconian magazine ban. That opinion, in Duncan v. Becerra, shows what’s possible when a federal judge treats the right to keep and bear arms with the respect deserved by all provisions within the Bill of Rights.Â
Czech Republic Moves To Expand Gun Rights
From NRA-ILA:
Exactly two weeks after the Czech Republic announced that they would challenge restrictive changes to the European Union’s European Firearms Directive in the European Court of Justice, the small nation has once again acted to defend themselves against transnational gun controllers. On June 28, the Czech Chamber of Deputies (the lower house of the Czech Parliament) approved a constitutional amendment to protect Czech citizens’ right to possess firearms and ammunition, with a reported 139 of 200 deputies voting in favor.
Specifically, the proposed constitutional amendment ensures that Czech citizens have a right to keep and bear arms in order to participate in preserving national security.

NRA Is Now Selling Insurance For Self Defense
From Politico:
…last month the NRA announced a new insurance product, Carry Guard, which they marketed to their millions of members online and at their annual meeting in Atlanta. The idea of firearms liability insurance has been previously championed by gun safety advocates on the left, who envisioned insurance as an instrument of public safety that could encourage safer guns and safer behavior. As implemented by the NRA, though, firearms liability insurance has a different function—to insulate gun owners from the expense and other possible consequences of a shooting.
Powell explains that Carry Guard was created to accommodate the needs of a changing culture in the U.S., where more people carry concealed weapons. “There’s just been this incredible carry revolution that’s taken place over the past eight years, and you know, the NRA started it. We started this in Florida 35 or 36 years ago, passing the first concealed carry bill. And so this is really a response to that movement and our members saying ‘Hey, we need you guys to be the gold standard for training, liability insurance— everything concealed carry.’â€
Study Smears Gun Owners As More Fearful And Anxious
From Pacific Standard:
They also responded to a set of statements designed to determine their level of “belief in a dangerous world.” For example, they indicated the extent they agreed with the assertion “Any day now, chaos and lawlessness could erupt around us.”
The results: Gun owners scored higher on specific personal fears and generalized anxiety. They also “believed more strongly that gun possession is an effective method of self-defense.”
British Citizens Demand Their Gun Rights
From Tribunist:
As reported by Vocativ, Dave Ewing, a representative from Firearms-UK, a gun ownership advocacy group, said, “These tragedies may have been the eye opener to just how ineffective our laws are.â€
Advocacy groups including Firearms-UK, Arm UK Citizens, England Wants Its Guns Back, and Legalise Guns in the UK, have taken to social media to make their perspectives heard regarding the strict legislation surrounding gun ownership in the UK and accusing the government of leaving citizens exposed to threats though the restrictions.
The English Want Their Guns Back
Carry Now is an advocacy group in Europe and is growing in Britain in the wake of the terrorist attacks.
Gun Sale Spikes After Shootings
From CNN:
The demand for guns jumped in Newtown after the shooting. Assault rifles began selling out across the country amid fears of tighter gun control legislation. Similar spikes in gun sales followed tragedies in Orlando and San Bernardino, and stock in gun companies surged. Now, research in California suggests that the closer people are to a mass tragedy, the greater the impact on gun sales.
Robbing A Store With A Jammed Pistol
From SOFREP:
According to the New York Post, “The suspect entered the restaurant at 3900 Broadway in Kansas City at about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday and placed an order after briefly scanning the menu. The clerk then begins to punch in the suspect’s order as he sways back and forth in front of the register. The suspect then pulls a handgun from the front pocket of his hooded sweatshirt and cocks it before motioning to the cash register while pointing the gun at the clerk.â€
Texas Cutting CHL/LTC Fees
From Guns.com:
The House on Tuesday tentatively approved in an 111-30 vote SB 16, which would drop permit fees from $140 to $40 on first-time applications and renewals from $70 to $40, setting the measure up for a third and final reading in the chamber. A legislative priority for Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Texas has some of the highest handgun license costs in the country.
NRA Carry Guard: Self Defense Insurance
About Carry Guard:
An armed encounter is likely to be the most stressful moment of someone’s life. We can do our best to avoid trouble, but bad things sometimes happen to good people. That’s why right behind your firearm, your second most important protection is a rock-solid carry policy.
NRA Carry Guard is a two-pronged program. It was created to provide insurance coverage to those who legally defend themselves with a firearm, and to offer an elite, one-stop training option. The insurance provides a comprehensive set of benefits and protection that will help spare gun owners from costly financial and legal consequences, even if they did everything right. The training was developed by an expert team of military and law enforcement veterans and focuses on the unique legal, mental and physical circumstances you must be prepared to face after pulling the trigger.
North Dakota Passes Constitutional Carry
From Guns.com:
House Bill 1169 codified the right of those with a North Dakota drivers’ license or state-issued ID card to carry a concealed handgun. The bill passed the House last month 83-9 and the Senate this week 34-13. Burgum, who carried an “A†rating from the National Rifle Association during his election campaign last year, contends the measure reaffirms Second Amendment rights.
Concealed Carry Reciprocity
From The Washington Post:
There are questions, however, about Congress’s authority to pass the bill, which seems to stretch the limits of the commerce power and of the 14th Amendment’s enforcement power, as discussed in posts by Josh Blackman and Joseph Blocher, among others. But there may be another way.
In a letter sent today, Stephen Sachs, Randy Barnett and I argue that Congress should not rely on the commerce power but should instead rely on the Full Faith and Credit Clause.
