Guns Stores Prepare For Sales Increase After Stimulus Payments

From The Post Millennial:

“Stimulus check equals gun money,” said Brandon Wexler, owner of Wex Gunworks in Delray Beach, Florida.”I do anticipate that when people get a stimulus check they will spend it on firearms, accessories, high-capacity magazines and ammo, if they can get it.”

Whether it be the rise in civil unrest throughout our nation’s cities, the Jan 6 attack on the US Capitol, or simply just for pleasure, Americans flocked to gun stores after receiving the first round of stimulus checks in 2020.

MTV: Gun Control Is Racist

From MTV:

States passed laws forbidding African-Americans from carrying weapons. In South Carolina, slaves — who were “of barbarous, wild savage natures” according to Colony Law — could not have unsupervised access to weapons and could be killed freely, provided the murder wasn’t “wanton.” In Florida, white “citizens patrols” were permitted to search the homes of free African-Americans for guns “and other offensive or improper weapons, and may lawfully seize and take away such arms, weapons, and ammunition.” The message was clear: guns — like the ballot box, marriage, and the right to free assembly — were for white Americans only.

Many resisted, and did so with the very weapons they were forbidden to own. Harriet Tubman rescued more than 300 people from slavery with a gun under her arm. Frederick Douglass wrote in 1854 that a good revolver was critical to staying free: “Every slave hunter who meets a bloody death in his infernal business is an argument in favor of the manhood of our race.”

Killer Mike On Blacks Embracing Self Defense

From Colorlines:

In fact, following Arbery’s death, I issued a statement urging Black people and people of color to take seriously their Second Amendment rights. I was urging people who look like me to take seriously shooting, training, and the protection of our rights. I put this statement out because the police cannot always get to you on time, and the world is not a just place. I also released these remarks because we cannot assume that everyone who wears a police uniform is just and fair. The high number of people killed by police (1,099 people were killed by police in 2019) proves my point.

Colorado Legislature Considers Waiting Period For Guns In Violation Of State’s Constitution

From Complete Colorado:

Alternately, maybe some Democrats think that people have some rights, such as the right to speak freely and the right to get an abortion, but not the right to defend themselves with a gun. But it’s hard to argue that any right is more fundamental or primal than the right to self-defense, an idea that goes back at least to ancient Greek and Roman philosophy. The right to defend your life flows directly from the right to life itself.

Indeed, Colorado’s Bill of Rights, Article II of the state’s Constitution, asserts that people have “essential and inalienable rights, among which may be reckoned the right of enjoying and defending their lives and liberties” (Section 3). It continues, “The right of no person to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person and property…shall be called in question” (Section 13).

From The Truth About Guns:

When Defense Distributed launched their faster, larger, more powerful Ghost Gunner 3 mill they noted it is powerful enough to cut steel. At that point it was only a matter of time before AK-47 receivers were coming off the GG3, and that time is now.

Welcoming New Gun Owners

From Dave Kopel:

Your friend probably has just one gun. Now is not the time to tell them why they should have bought some other gun. Save that for much later, if ever. Concentrate on helping your friend acquire proficiency with the gun they already have.

Have Gun Rights Been Helped By New Owners?

From Reason:

But the opportunity has passed for the restrictions he peddles as “common sense reforms.” In an era of political instability and distrust in government, Americans of varying political beliefs are purchasing guns in record numbers. And those millions of new weapons and their owners are bound to remain beyond the reach of politicians’ wish lists of restrictive laws.

Are Gun Rights And Police Protestors On The Same Side?

From The Crime Report:

Protesters calling for stricter measures against police violence should be on the same side of the barricades as Second Amendment opponents of stricter gun controls, argues a Virginia law professor.

Since both fear the government’s ”monopoly of force” and are skeptical of authorities’ ability to protect citizens during times of unrest, they have an equal interest in Constitutional guarantees of the right to bear arms and protect themselves, Robert Leider writes in a forthcoming article in the Northwestern University Law Review.

Americans Prove They Want Guns With Their Actions

From National Shooting Spots Foundation:

“These figures, combined with the record-breaking 17.2 million NSSF-adjusted background checks for the sale or transfer of a firearm in the first ten months of 2020, demonstrates that Americans have a strong desire to continue purchasing firearms for lawful purposes,” said Joe Bartozzi, NSSF’s President and CEO
