Virginia County Goes A Step Further Than Sanctuary

From Bearing Arms:

That answer is “On Dec. 3rd, 2019, our Board of Supervisors chose to exercise some of its rights under the Virginia Constitution to order or regulate militia.  By insuring that our residents have the opportunity (1) to possess certain types of firearms, (2) to educate themselves on their use, (3) to learn common military practices, and (4) to learn basic survival skills, we hope to preserve a group of residents who could form a militia, were such a body needed.  Without these most basic elements our County would not have a group of persons from whom a militia could be drawn.  At the moment, however, the Board has not called any such militia to arms and prays that such moment never occurs.”

Slate Concerned About Right Wing Violence, Silent On Left Wing Violence

From Slate:

Though they vary across the states, the anti–private army laws target the same basic phenomenon: forming armed groups not answerable to civil authorities, providing paramilitary training for use in civil disorders, and falsely assuming police or military roles. The constitutional provisions and statutes can form the basis for injunctions prohibiting members associating together while armed or setting up training camps, restrictions on public events like rallies, and even criminal prosecutions.

Join NRA At Virginia State Capitol On Jan. 13

From NRA-ILA:

This fight begins on January 13th during the first hearing of the Senate Courts of Justice Committee, and we must hold tyranny in check.  While it is important for Virginia gun owners to make their voices heard at all times, it is critical on this first day.

Americans Continue History Of Disobedience

From The Truth About Guns:

Alongside the swirl of headlines about the Second Amendment sanctuary movement in Virginia, there are the echoes of other courageous American patriots who have battled lawless tyrants in their time.

The wailing, gun-confiscating leftists of 2019 need to know this: declarations of “We will not comply!” in America are as old as the fruited plain.

Virginia Dems Want To Enforce Gun Laws With National Guard

From The Washington Examiner:

Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill say local police who do not enforce gun control measures likely to pass in Virginia should face prosecution and even threats of the National Guard.

“And ultimately, I’m not the governor, but the governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law,” he said. “That’s his call, because I don’t know how serious these counties are and how severe the violations of law will be. But that’s obviously an option he has.”

Sheriff May Deputize Thousands Of Citizens

From DC Dirty Laundry:

“If the legislature decides to restrict certain weapons [in a way] I feel harms our community, I will swear in thousands of auxiliary deputies in Culpeper,” Jenkins said. “There’s no limit to the number of people I can swear in.” The sheriff added, “Personally, I don’t think some of the bills that are proposed will pass, I don’t think we’re that far left in Virginia.”
Jenkins is serving his third term in the elected office. According to the Culpeper Star-Exponent, he would not refuse to enforce laws he disagreed with but instead would work around them through a process of deputization.

Liberals Angered By Conservative Non-compliance

From The Washington Times:

Some on the left are angry, if not apoplectic, that conservatives are turning the tables on them and co-opting one of their own tactics against liberal policies. But turnabout, as they say, is fair play: Self-styled “progressives,” it seems, aren’t the only ones who can unilaterally decide which laws they will or will not enforce and/or comply with.

Virginia Bill To Criminalize Private Transfers

From NRA-ILA:

House Bill 2, introduced by Delegate Kenneth R. Plum (D-36), would criminalize almost all private transfers of firearms. Not merely restricted to doing so for sales, Virginians would be required to seek government permission to gift, trade, and even temporarily lend firearms to close friends and extended family. The legislation states that:
“[n]o person shall sell, rent, trade, or transfer a firearm” without first subjecting the transferee to a state police background check to be conducted at a licensed firearms dealer.

22 Virginia Counties Declare Sanctuary Status Ahead Of New Legislative Session

From The Truth About Guns:

Thus far, with Greensville County joining the movement, 22 Virginia counties have declared themselves 2A sanctuaries with 6 of other counties’ action pending.
Unsurprisingly, the confiscation crowd has seized upon this grassroots effort and grossly mischaracterized it. Even though law-abiding Virginian gun owners have not broken any laws, once again we find ourselves accused of terrible misdeeds.

Virginia Wants To Make Firearms/Martial Arts Training Illegal

From The Captain’s Journal:

This is a remarkable development.  One refreshing thing is that the masks have all come off now.  With control of the Senate, House and Governor’s mansion, the controllers want you to know where they stand and are willing to say so out loud and in the clearest possible terms.

Opinion: VA Lawmaker’s “Offensive” Speech on the Second Amendment

From The Organic Prepper:

You may not have ever heard of Nick Freitas before, but I have a feeling we’ll all be hearing a lot about him soon. At first glance, this may seem very political, very Republican vs. Democrat.

It’s about people who got so upset about historic facts that they had to leave the room instead of engaging in a discussion.

Virginia To Revoke Concealed Carry Reciprocity With Most States

From The Washington Post:

Virginia Attorney General Mark R. Herring announced Tuesday that the commonwealth will no longer recognize out-of-state concealed handgun permits, part of a national push to circumvent legislatures opposed to tightening gun laws.

Herring (D) said 25 states have lax laws compared with Virginia, where a history of stalking, drug dealing or inpatient mental health treatment can disqualify someone from carrying a concealed handgun. The move is in step with actions governors and attorneys general are taking to address gun violence without going through Republican-controlled legislatures.

Democrats Targeted Gun Store In Virginia

From The Washington Times:

Democratic elected officials in Northern Virginia worked together to engineer a campaign against a Fairfax County firearms store in a bid to politicize gun violence and drum up support for a Democrat in an election Tuesday, an exchange of emails shows.

Delegate Kathleen Murphy, McLean Democrat, wrote an email to state Sen. Barbara Favola, Arlington Democrat, seeking help in shutting down the gun store. Ms. Favola was instrumental in organizing opposition to Mr. Gates’ shop in Arlington.
