Police Refuse To Protect Democrat Convention

From AP:

More than 100 police agencies are withdrawing from agreements to send personnel to bolster security at next month’s Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee, in part because they’re concerned about a recent directive ordering police in the city to stop using tear gas to control crowds.

Virginia Dems Want To Enforce Gun Laws With National Guard

From The Washington Examiner:

Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill say local police who do not enforce gun control measures likely to pass in Virginia should face prosecution and even threats of the National Guard.

“And ultimately, I’m not the governor, but the governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law,” he said. “That’s his call, because I don’t know how serious these counties are and how severe the violations of law will be. But that’s obviously an option he has.”

Virginia Wants To Make Firearms/Martial Arts Training Illegal

From The Captain’s Journal:

This is a remarkable development.  One refreshing thing is that the masks have all come off now.  With control of the Senate, House and Governor’s mansion, the controllers want you to know where they stand and are willing to say so out loud and in the clearest possible terms.

Warren: Armed Officers Out Of Shools

From The Truth About Guns:

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) wants to leave our children unprotected in their schools. She opposes allowing school staff to tool up. And now, in a new editorial, she proposes eliminating armed school resource officers, leaving our nation’s children utterly undefended from madmen and losers.

Dems Who Criticize Beto On Confiscation Want Equally Stupid Ban

From Reason:

Beto O’Rourke is taking flak from other Democratic presidential contenders for supporting mass confiscation of military-style rifles, a proposal several of them view as an impractical campaign gimmick. Although they are right about that, all the Democratic candidates are guilty of magical thinking on this issue, because they support an “assault weapon” ban that cannot reasonably be expected to have a measurable impact on gun violence.

Lawmakers Want Tax Money To Fund Gun Technology

From Guns.com:

A group of House Democrats last week introduced a bill that would set aside Department of Justice funds to research so-called “smart guns.”
The aim of “The Advancing Gun Safety Technology Act” is to back “private-sector commercialization of gun-safety technology” through a $10 million pilot program in 2021 funded through DOJ. Companies who have an initial product design and a “demonstrable commitment to reducing unintentional or unauthorized shootings” would be eligible to apply for a grant through the program.

Dems Repeat Gun Control Tropes

From Reason.com:

The absence of thoughtful, evidence-based arguments in favor of “common-sense gun laws” was especially striking because each candidate had half an hour to defend his or her views. Instead they simply asserted the need for the mostly indistinguishable policies they favor while perpetuating several misconceptions that continue to cloud the debate about gun policy.

Biden Promotes Old “Assault Ban” Idea

From NRA-ILA:

This week the campaign website for presidential hopeful Joe Biden published what it called an “Education … Plan for Educators, Students, and Our Future.” Among its agenda items was to “[d]efeat the National Rifle Association” by “championing legislation to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines – bans [Biden] authored in 1994.” In other words, Biden would reprise a law that was widely recognized (including among gun control advocates) as a failure and the cause of his party losing control of Congress in 1994.

Gun Control Hurts Poor Minorities Most

From Fox News:

The regulations Harris and Booker are proposing would hit low-income Americans – many of whom live in high-crime neighborhoods – particularly hard, because the regulations would effectively prevent them from owning guns for protection by making gun ownership more expensive. Black Americans would be disproportionately affected because of their disproportionately high poverty rate.

Gun Control Conflicts With Dems Immigration Policy

From Bearing Arms:

“Clearly, the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee don’t care about preventing gun violence, they simply are playing politics with Americans’ Second Amendment rights,” Steube, a Republican, said after the vote. “The fact that Democrats do not want law enforcement notified if an individual attempting to purchase a firearm fails a background check is truly troubling.”

New Dems To Criminalize Private Gun Sales

From Breitbart:

So Thompson will sponsor legislation requiring a background check before someone may buy a gun from his neighbor, a co-worker to get a background check before buying a gun from a co-worker, and so forth. The bill will go so far as to require a son to get a background check before a father can give him a gun as a gift.

Dems Propose Registration

From Townhall:

On Wednesday, congressional Democrats introduced bills to the House and the Senate that would establish a “system of licensing for purchasers of certain firearms” and “a record of sale system for those firearms” that would create a national registry for firearm sales and transfers in the United States and broadly prohibit the sale or transfer of guns to anyone without a federal license.
