CNN Uses China To Defend Gun Control
From CNN:
“When my friend told me about the shooting, I thought it was the United States,” one person wrote on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. Another user wrote, “Using a gun to kill people in China? Am I watching an American movie?”
That disbelief widely reflects how rare gun crime is in China — in contrast to it being a daily reality in the US.
The difference is stark when it comes to public safety. Despite being the world’s most populous country, with 1.4 billion residents, China only records a few dozen gun crimes a year. And more broadly, violent crime has continued falling, reaching its lowest level in 20 years in 2020, according to state-run news outlet Xinhua.
Gun Banners Are Ignorant Of Gun Laws
From True North News:
A poll commissioned by Public Safety Canada before the election shows that a vast majority of Canadians who support the Liberal government’s gun bans have very little knowledge of Canada’s firearms regulations.Â
Disarming Americans Without Laws
From The Federalist:
The gun prohibition lobbies, having mostly failed in their campaigns to convince legislatures to ban guns, have intensified their efforts to disarm Americans by other means. The Biden ammunition ban is one step in the process.
Australia Is What Happens When Citizens Are Disarmed
From The Federalist:
Since the outset of the COVID-19 lockdowns, Australia has instituted some of the strictest lockdown measures in the western world. Once viewed as a free, prosperous society, the nation has slowly devolved into a full-fledged police state. with the federal government even going as far as to prohibit citizens from leaving the country.
ATF Tries To Redefine “Firearm”
The proposed rule, the “Definition of Frame or Receiver and Identification of Firearms†was introduced in May and signed by Attorney General Merrick Garland. Public comments on the rule closed Thursday.
It would amend the Code of Federal Regulations, including the term “firearm†in order to regulate firearm kits, and amend the term “gunsmith†to clarify that gunsmiths must mark unlicensed guns — effectively making the individual the manufacturer. It would implement regulations on nearly all portions of a firearm.
From The Federalist:
Biden and Taliban Agree On Disarming Civilians
From The Truth About Guns:
The Taliban are not the first gun-grabbers to cite need as a reason for firearm confiscation. Joe Biden has been citing it nearly every time he mentions guns.
David Yamane Talks To Brady Org About Gun Culture 2.0
From Red, Blue and Brady podcast:
Gun ownership in the US has changed, and with it, how that ownership is viewed and studied. One person studying those changes — and a participant in them — is sociologist and gun owner Dr. David Yamane. Dr. Yamane, author of the book Concealed Carry Revolution: Expanding the Right to Bear Arms in America and the blogs Gun Culture 2.0 and Gun Curious, joined hosts Kelly and JJ to discuss what he (and Michael Bane) call Gun Culture 2.0 — namely, the emerging trend where individuals don’t enter gun culture through hunting, military service, or family tradition, but out of personal defense concerns.
Breakdown Of Judge Benitez’s 2A Ruling
From Ammoland:
This case is not about extraordinary weapons lying at the outer limits of Second Amendment protection. The banned “assault weapons†are not bazookas, howitzers, or machine guns. Those arms are dangerous and solely useful for military purposes. Instead, the firearms deemed “assault weapons†are fairly ordinary, popular, modern rifles. This is an average case about average guns used in average ways for average purposes.
The Guardian Discusses California Ruling
From The Guardian:
Nationally, though, handguns are used in the majority of gun murders, with rifles listed as the murder weapon in fewer than 4% of murders from 2010 to 2014, according to FBI data.
“While bans on military-style weapons are very popular in the gun safety movement, these guns are popular firearms, they’re not used relatively often to commit crimes, and most of the crimes committed with these weapons could and would be easily committed with handguns or other substitutes,†Winkler says.
Democrats Introduce Bill To License And Register All Handguns
From Guns.com:
Plainly titled the Handgun Licensing and Registration Act of 2021, the proposal would require that any handgun owner be at least 21 years of age. Before their mandatory license is issued for a pistol or revolver, would-be handgun owners would first complete approved firearms training and clear a background check after submitting fingerprints and photographs. Licenses would have to be renewed every five years.Â
Time To Rectify Heller
From The Federalist:
Heller adopted the nonsense whole cloth. Ironically, the opinion was written by Justice Scalia, renowned as the court’s great originalist. Ironic, in that there is nothing in the legislative history of the Second Amendment to support a “common use†test.
As Judge Benitez wrote, “The command of the Amendment is that the right to keep and bear arms ‘shall not be infringed.’†Not some arms, but “Arms.†And not “infringed too much,†but “infringed†at all.
Gun Buybacks Don’t Reduce Crime
From FEE:
“Researchers who have evaluated gun control strategies say buybacks—despite their popularity—are among the least effective ways to reduce gun violence,†USA Today reported back in 2013.
A newly released academic study reinforces the claim that gun buybacks don’t reduce gun violence.
Anti Gunners Freak Out Over New Constitutional Carry Laws
From Bearing Arms:
Tennessee lawmakers recently passed legislation that allows adults to carry handguns without a permit or required training, making the Volunteer State less safe and endangering the lives of citizens, families and communities in cities and towns across the state.
