Antifa To March With Pro-Gun Protesters In Virginia

From Daily Caller:

In what Vice called a “bizarre meeting of the minds,” Richmond-based Antifa Seven Hills also strongly opposes the gun measures now likely to become law since Democrats won control of both Virginia houses last year, and they too want Democratic leaders in Richmond to know.

Georgia Dems Intro Bill To Ban All Semi Auto Firearms

From News Target:

Sen. Donzella James has filed SB 281, which would “prohibit the possession of automatic and semi-automatic guns,” regardless of make, model or the fact that these weapons are used so infrequently to commit crimes it is nearly statistically insignificant.
In addition, the bill includes other popular provisions among Democrat gun grabbers: A ban on ‘high capacity magazines’ (more than 10 rounds), and private sales at gun shows. And it would require “secure storage” of guns by dealers (as though gun stores around the state are lightly secured as it is).

Gun Confiscation Bill Filed In New Hampshire

From NRA-ILA:

House Bill 687, sponsored by Representative Debra Altschiller (D-Rockingham 19), would allow ex parte orders that would suspend Second Amendment rights without adequate due process. Further, if the order is vacated after an individual surrendered their firearms, that individual will have to go to court to have their property returned, unlike when the court wrongfully takes them away. Knowingly filing a false claim is only a misdemeanor, while violating an order is a Class B felony, punishable by three and a half to seven years of imprisonment. This extreme difference in punishments could lead to false accusations against many law-abiding individuals.

Attacking Gun Sanctuaries With Comparisons To Slavery

From The Washington Examiner:

In linking it to slavery, he wrote, “A sad irony is that the ‘sanctuary’ movement conjures the disturbing nullification movements of the past three centuries in Virginia. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison argued that the states have the right to ignore federal laws they consider unconstitutional. That thinking was applied to proslavery movements, leading to the Civil War and the fight over integration in the 1950s and 1960s.”

Good Guy With A Gun

From The Washington Times:

Fortunately, in September 2019, the state of Texas clarified many of its existing statutes on firearm possession, allowing licensed gun owners to carry firearms into places of worship. Imagine how much worse the West Freeway Church of Christ tragedy could have been had this shooting occurred in gun-control-obsessed states like California, New York or Massachusetts instead. Even worse, imagine a world without the protections of the Second Amendment so brilliantly enshrined by our nation’s Founders.

Virginia County Goes A Step Further Than Sanctuary

From Bearing Arms:

That answer is “On Dec. 3rd, 2019, our Board of Supervisors chose to exercise some of its rights under the Virginia Constitution to order or regulate militia.  By insuring that our residents have the opportunity (1) to possess certain types of firearms, (2) to educate themselves on their use, (3) to learn common military practices, and (4) to learn basic survival skills, we hope to preserve a group of residents who could form a militia, were such a body needed.  Without these most basic elements our County would not have a group of persons from whom a militia could be drawn.  At the moment, however, the Board has not called any such militia to arms and prays that such moment never occurs.”

No Guns For “Average” Americans

From Bearing Arms:

“You just do not want the average American carrying a gun in a crowded place,” said the former New York mayor. Actually, I do want the average American to be able to exercise their right to bear arms, as more than 18-million Americans who possess a concealed carry license currently do. That also doesn’t take into account the millions more who live in states that don’t require a license or permit in order for legal gun owners to lawfully carry.

Defensive Gun Uses Save Lives

From The Federalist:

Studies on incidents of defensive gun use range anywhere from an absurdly low 55,000 to a high of 4.7 million per year. The most commonly cited and widely accepted is the 1995 study by Gary Kleck and Marc Gertz, which estimates that between 2.1 and 2.5 million defensive gun use instances occur in the United States each year.

By contrast, from 1993-2011, nonfatal firearm-related crime ranged between 1,287,190 and 331,618 incidents per year. This data makes a strong case that defensive gun use is much more common than firearm-related crime. Instances of defensive gun use save lives every day, but the stories get very little news coverage, while the statistically much fewer negative gun uses are often covered by the national news media for days on end.

Join NRA At Virginia State Capitol On Jan. 13

From NRA-ILA:

This fight begins on January 13th during the first hearing of the Senate Courts of Justice Committee, and we must hold tyranny in check.  While it is important for Virginia gun owners to make their voices heard at all times, it is critical on this first day.

Campuses Still Safe After Carry Laws Pass

From The Washington Examiner:

Two anti-gun professors wrote in the Washington Post that “campus-carry laws will invite tragedies on college campuses, not end them.” Another liberal professor, writing for the New York Times, warned that “when there are more guns around, there is more risk – it’s as simple as that.”
The trouble with such predictions is that they tend to be tested as time goes by. And as it turns out, they simply weren’t true. Students just aren’t waging the gun battles that anti-gun activists expected. A new report from the College Fix looked into this narrative, and it came up empty.

GOA Continues Fight Against Bump Stock Ban

From Ammoland:

In particular, one appellate judge was very concerned that, in the future, the “ATF could choose to redefine ‘machine gun’ as including all semiautomatic weapons that can be modified with a device like a bump stock.”
Of course, this is exactly the point that GOA has made in its briefs to the court. If the ATF can claim that a bump stock can turn an AR-15 into a machine gun, then the same can be said about rubber bands or belt loops.

Pennsylvania Gov Declares Unfinished Firearms Same As Firearms

From Guns.com:

“My Office is taking the initial step of clarifying – through my official, legal opinion – that under Pennsylvania law, 80 percent receivers are firearms and can be treated, regulated, and enforced as such,” Shapiro said at a news conference with Wolf and State Police officials.
The six-page opinion, issued to Col. Robert Evanchick, the State Police Commissioner, concludes that a partially-manufactured receiver is a firearm if it is designed in a way that it “may be readily converted” to a completed receiver. This would result in such items being treated under the law as factory-produced firearms, with serial numbers, federal background checks and the like.

Woman Shot Ex In Self Defense In Jail; Ex Out On Bail

From Bearing Arms:

A woman in Decatur, Illinois who shot her ex in self-defense after he attacked her in her vehicle is now behind bars on $75,000 bond, while her abuser is already back out on the streets.
According to the Herald-Review newspaper, police say the woman was defending herself when she fired the shot from her legally owned firearm, but because she doesn’t have a concealed carry license, she’s now facing a felony charge.
