Anti-Gun Org Investigated For Breaking Guns Laws
From Ammoland:
“ New Mexico Sheriff has opened an investigation into whether anti-gun group illegally purchased guns in violation of Universal Background Checks during a “buyback” and failed to destroy these firearms in a legal manner,” Gun Owners of America commented when forwarding the NMPGV announcement. “YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS STUFF UP.”
Argentine President Wants More Armed Citizens, Less Gun Regulations
From Ammoland:
There is a “may issue” permit system. Permits under the system are only valid for one year. The applicant is required to justify the need to carry the firearm. The batimes.com.ar tells us President Milei wants to eliminate most of these elaborate restrictions.
G25 .380 Glock Made In Georgia
From Guns.com:
Now, with the gun in limited domestic production at Glock’s facility in Smyrna, Georgia, the American-made Gen 3 G25 is being distributed by TALO.
Reality Hits Jews Who Don’t Like Guns
From Post-Gazette:
Under the keen eye of a trained instructor, who was also Jewish, David was surprised at how comfortable he was handling a gun. As someone who grew up in a community in which owning guns was unthinkable, he was surprised at how many of his friends also owned guns.
“Growing up, the mere thought of owning a gun or handling a gun was taboo. However, once I started having conversations with people after Tree of Life, I found the reality is everybody might be somebody who would buy a gun. It just depends on what it takes to get one,” he explained.
No Special Privileges For Police Over Civilians
From Reason:
The magazine ban attempts to divorce today’s common arms of law-abiding citizens from today’s common arms of law enforcement officers, including sheriffs and their deputies. The divorce, contrary to the wishes of both parties, endangers citizens and officers alike.
The arms of ordinary law enforcement officers are carefully selected for only one purpose: lawful defense of innocents in civil society. Throughout American history, many citizens have looked to law enforcement for guidance in choosing arms for the same purpose. Denying those arms to citizens and to retired law enforcement officers endangers them for the same reasons that denying these arms to active law enforcement officers would endanger them. The most important reason is the necessity of reserve capacity, as detailed in Part II.
Bill Attacks First and Second Amendment By Calling For CAD File Ban
From Ammoland:
The bill reads: “It shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally distribute, over the internet or by means of the World Wide Web, digital instructions in the form of Computer Aided Design files or other code that can automatically program a 3-dimensional printer or similar device to produce a firearm or complete a firearm from an unfinished frame or receiver.”
60 Minutes Promotes Armed Civilians In Ukraine, Not United States
From Bearing Arms:
On Sunday evening, however, the CBS News program 60 Minutes devoted an entire segment to armed citizens fighting back; not here in the United States, but in Ukraine, where civilian resistance fighters took on elements of the Russian army in the province of Kherson.
ACLU Makes Principled Move To Defend NRA
From The Truth About Guns:
What the ACLU does advocate for pretty consistently is robust First Amendment rights for everyone. The NRA lawsuit involved here, if it fails, would strike at the heart of freedom of speech and empower governments to severely restrict the rights of anyone with views they disapprove of.
The ATF Must Go
From Bearing Arms:
Calls for the reform or abolishment of the ATF grow louder and louder. Just last week, an article published by the Second Amendment Foundation makes the case for undoing the damage done by the Biden Administration. It’s a roadmap for the next president, but not one that will alter the current course of the ATF or stop future abuses. And while I’m on board with undoing Biden’s dirty work, I don’t think it’s enough. It’s my view that undoing the years of Biden Administration overreach and utter disdain for the Constitutional rights of American citizens will not be enough. The ATF, as it is currently defined, has got to go.
New Body Armor Classification
From The Firearm Blog:
Most people will care more about 0123.00 as they are shopping for new armor. There are five types of armor rating. HG (for handgun) 1 and 2, and RF (for rifle) 1, 2, and 3. First up we have the handgun levels. The old system was, in order of increasing protection, IIA, II, and IIIA, which makes almost no sense. Moving to only two ratings makes sense because IIA is fairly uncommon these days.
There are only two handgun protection levels under NIJ 0123.00. HG1 handles 9mm and .357 magnum threats. HG2 also covers 9mm and adds .44 magnum. Of note, the test spec for the 9mm load for HG1 is 1,305 feet per second. For HG2 the specified velocity is 1,430 feet per second. That is a sout load with 124-grain 9mm ammo. Both of those loads are running quite a bit faster than the 1,000-1,100 FPS that 124-grain ammo will do from the average handgun, and look more like submachinegun (HG1) and 16″+ PCC (HG2) stats. The magnum revolver loads both clock in at 1,430 feet per second.
The American Hunt
From The Old Glory Club:
Though the sport has declined in participation over the last fifty years, America still has more hunters than anywhere else on Earth. An average of 700,000 hunters take part in the harvest every year in Wisconsin alone, which is more than any standing army on earth. Travel to any rural county in America, and you’ll find Opening Day is celebrated with as much reverence as Thanksgiving. Some counties will close businesses and even schools. They know no work is getting done — there’s freezers that need filling.
Gun Ban For 18 to 20-yr-olds Ruled Unconstitutional
From Ammoland:
A federal district court judge from the Northern District of West Virginia ruled that banning 18 to 20-year-olds from buying handguns from federal firearms licensees (FFLs) is unconstitutional.
Why Won’t Gun “Buybacks” Accept 3D Printed Guns
From The Truth About Guns:
The security theater grifters who put on “buybacks” never bother to defend them as being effective, taking the Fifth whenever they’re challenged by the public. But, unlike a court of actual law, we’re totally free to use their silence as evidence against them.
Remington Leaves New York For Georgia
From Bearing Arms:
RemArms, the current version of Remington Arms, will close its facility in the Mohawk Valley village of Ilion around March 4, according to the letter sent Thursday. The letter said the company “did not arrive at this decision lightly,” according to the Observer-Dispatch of Utica.
Gun Ban Introduced As GOSAFE Act
From NSSF:
“The legislation introduced by Senators King and Heinrich is openly defiant of the rights protected by the U.S. Constitution. There is no path forward for legislation of this nature that would deprive law-abiding citizens the ability to lawfully possess the firearm of their choosing and the full spectrum of their Second Amendment rights,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel.
