US Government Ignores External Threats While Creating Fake Internal Threats
From Wired.com:
P4x says he was later contacted by the FBI but was never offered any real help to assess the damage from North Korea’s hacking or to protect himself in the future. Nor did he ever hear of any consequences for the hackers who targeted him, an open investigation into them, or even a formal recognition from a US agency that North Korea was responsible. It began to feel, as he put it, like “there’s really nobody on our side.”
No-Knocks Lead Only To More Death
From Bearing Arms:
Unfortunately, we’ve seen it more than once. From Breonna Taylor to Amir Locke, people are dying because of this particular tactic.
Each and every one of us has wondered if we were going to be one of the unlucky folks who become the victim of a home invasion. We’ve war-gamed the scenario in our heads. We’ve considered the most likely points of entry and have probably trained ourselves to respond.
Then, one night, the door bursts open. Oh God, we think, it’s happening! We reach for our gun and fire at the shadowy figures storming through our home.
Only, it’s the police.
Let Your Neighbors Defend Themselves
From Ammoland:
We’re acting as if our bad dreams were more real than the bodies with chalk marks around them. Part of that problem is political. Politicians appeal to our fantasies and we’re suckers for that.
Twelve States Back Foreign Country In Lawsuit Against American Businesses
From Guns.com:
The 26-page brief, submitted by the attorneys general of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, and Oregon, as well as the District of Columbia, supports a controversial $10 billion lawsuit brought by Mexico against some of the biggest names in guns including Barrett, Beretta, Century Arms, Colt, Glock, Ruger, and Smith & Wesson.Â
ACLU Doesn’t Support All Civil Rights
From The Truth About Guns:
“Many of the [gun control] options now being considered raise no civil liberties concerns. That includes bans on assault weapons, high-capacity magazines, and bump stocks. Raising the minimum age for all gun ownership to 21, currently the legal age for purchasing a handgun, also raises no civil liberties issues, as research on brain development shows that young people’s impulse control differs from that of adults,†the group states.
NM Bill Would Require Actors To Take Safety Course From State Agency
From Santa Fe New Mexican:
Actors handling firearms on film sets in New Mexico would be required to take a gun safety course from the state Department of Game and Fish before the cameras start rolling under a bill introduced Monday.
The bill would require all actors and prop personnel “to be familiar with the deadly power of firearms and trained in proper gun safety,” a news release states. The course would teach firearms safety and responsible firearm use.
ATF Used Loophole To Create Database Of Almost A Billion Gun Records
From The Washington Free Beacon:
The ATF disclosed to lawmakers that it manages a database of 920,664,765 firearm purchase records, including both digital and hard copy versions of these transactions. When a licensed gun store goes out of business, its private records detailing gun transactions become ATF property and are stored at a federal site in West Virginia. The practice has contributed to the fears of gun advocacy groups and Second Amendment champions in Congress that the federal government is creating a national database of gun owners, which violates longstanding federal statutes.
Small YouTube Gun Channel Demonetized
From Bearing Arms:
This is going into the second month now, because it was just arbitrary. As I said, I was completely monetized. And I was getting all my videos barely reviewed and approved. And then I guess one of the reviewers, that’s probably anti-gun [started reviewing my content].
Judge Exposes Hypocrisy Of Second Amendment Jurisprudence
From Reason:
Frankly, this entire process is a waste of time. So, Judge VanDyke tried something new–write an “alternative” draft en banc opinion–or a fauxpinion, if you will–that reverses his panel opinion.
Since our court’s Second Amendment intermediate scrutiny standard can reach any result one desires, I figure there is no reason why I shouldn’t write an alternative draft opinion that will apply our test in a way more to the liking of the majority of our court. That way I can demonstrate just how easy it is to reach any desired conclusion under our current framework, and the majority of our court can get a jump-start on calling this case en banc. Sort of a win-win for everyone.Â
Texas Carry Permit Applications Dwindle After Constitutional Carry
From Bearing Arms:
According to data from the Texas Department of Public Safety, just 5,000 residents applied for a concealed carry license in November of 2021, which was an 87% decline from the all-time high set in June of 2020, when some 39,000 Texans applied for their concealed carry license amidst riots and civil unrest
Twitter Locked Account of Republican Candidate
From Reclaim The Net:
Twitter suspended the account of Joe Kent, a Republican congressional candidate from Washington state for tweeting in support of gun rights. He had to delete the tweet to recover his account.
“We will never give up our gun laws,†Kent tweeted. “Gun laws are infringements of our god given rights.WA state is back at it, a week ago we caught the board of health discussing forced quarantine, now the legislature going after our 2A. No 2A + forced quarantine = Australia.â€
Arizona Considers Removing Taxes on Guns and Safety Equipment
From Guns.com:
The measure, HB 2166, was introduced last week by state Rep. Steve Kaiser, R-Phoenix, and has four co-sponsors. As detailed by the Arizona Daily Star, the state has a 5.6-percent tax on retail sales that, combined with local taxes, can hit a combined rate as high as 11.2 percent in some communities. This, Kaiser told local media, can be a deterrent to purchasing a firearm, “And cost should not be a barrier to defend your family, your property,’’ said Kaiser.
Court: California Violated Constitution By Shutting Down Gun Stores
From Bearing Arms:
Two California counties violated the Constitution’s right to keep and bear arms when they shut down gun and ammunition stores in 2020 as nonessential businesses during the coronavirus pandemic, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday.
