Louisiana Constitutional Carry
From Ammoland:
House Bill number 72 is the “Louisiana Constitutional Carry Act of 2020.â€Â H.B. 72 says that you may carry a concealed firearm unless you are a prohibited person under state and federal law. This is commonly called constitutional carry or permitless carry. In short, if it was legal for you to get a permit and carry in public then the bill allows you to carry in public. If it was illegal for you to carry in public, then it remains illegal for you to carry in public.
Police Take Guns From Theft Victim
From Bearing Arms:
Because of the circumstances of the theft, police went into the home and took the guns, a semiautomatic Glock pistol, another handgun and a semi-automatic AR-15.
Under a new law that went into effect Oct. 1, Jerome was charged with a misdemeanor count of unsafe storage of a gun in a motor vehicle in addition to the reckless endangerment charge. The new law makes it a crime to store a gun in a locked car if it is not also put into a safe, locked in the glove box or stored in the car’s trunk.
Dems Threaten To Change Supreme Court If Decisions Don’t Go Their Way
From Chicago Tribune:
In 2017, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., accused President Donald Trump of showing “a disdain for an independent judiciary that doesn’t always bend to his wishes†after Trump criticized a federal judge who ruled against his administration. Senate Democrats, by contrast, have launched an unprecedented attempt to actually bend the Supreme Court to their wishes — threatening to restructure the court if the justices do not rule as they see fit.
Suppressors Support Public Health
From The Truth About Guns:
What if a cheap, reliable method of preventing a common, but serious injury were available and ready for the market? As an ear surgeon who has seen hundreds of patients with irreversible noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL), I would welcome it with open arms.
The Second Amendment In 2018
From Reason:
In 2018, the federal circuits delivered mixed decisions on magazine confiscation. The Third Circuit denied a preliminary injunction against New Jersey’s new confiscation law, while the Ninth Circuit affirmed a district court’s injunction against California’s older confiscation statute. Both decisions were 2-1.
Scotland Succumbs To Mob On Hunter
From Breitbart:
Numerous respondents demanded that Scotland do something to stop such hunts from taking place. The outcry eventually grew strong enough that Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister of Scotland, pledged the government would “review the current situation and consider whether changes to the law [for hunting such animals] are required.â€
Fox News reports that Scotland had now brought charges against Switlyk for “firearms offenses.†Police released a statement saying, “Following several complaints of wild goat ‘trophy’ hunting on Islay in (October), Police Scotland can now confirm that a 33-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man from the USA have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for firearms offences.â€
NJ Created New Felons With Magazine Ban
From Reason:
How many of New Jersey’s 1 million or so gun owners have complied with the ban by turning LCMs in to law enforcement agencies? Approximately zero, judging from an investigation by Ammoland writer John Crump. Crump, an NRA instructor and gun rights activist, “reached out to several local police departments in New Jersey” and found that “none had a single report of magazines turned over.” He also contacted the New Jersey State Police, which has not officially responded to his inquiry. But “two sources from within the State Police,” speaking on condition of anonymity, said “they both do not know of any magazines turned over to their agency and doubted that any were turned in.”
Gun Crime Rises In CA Despite Gun Laws
From Breitbart:
Despite all the stringent gun controls a bill filed by Assemblyman Marc Levine (CA-D-10) admits California firearm homicides were up between from 2014 to 2016. The bill says, “Although California has the toughest gun laws in the nation, more effort is necessary to curtail gun violence. The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation found that from 2014 to 2016 gun homicides increased 18 percent.â€
Hawaiian Gun Challenge May Get To Supreme Court
From Investing.com:
George Young is a Vietnam War veteran who sued the state of Hawaii three times on his own without a lawyer for the right to carry a handgun, and lost each time.
Alan Beck is an independent lawyer who took on Young’s appeal for free.
Last month, the duo won a major victory for gun rights when an appeals court found Hawaii’s restrictive handgun law unconstitutional, a ruling that could lead to a landmark decision from the U.S. Supreme Court on the right to bear arms in public. And they did so without the help of the powerful National Rifle Association (NRA) gun lobby.
Washington Cities Looking At Gun Storage Laws
From My Northwest:
Communities not far from Seattle are now considering their own safe gun storage regulations after the Emerald City passed its own.
National Concealed Carry and the Second Amendment
From Bearing Arms:
While I’d be thrilled that I’d no longer be disarmed and treated like a second class citizen when I visit my friends in the Northeast (other than needing to acquire some “NY legal†downloaded magazines, and another few boxes of Federal Guard Dog 9mm to get around New Jersey’s ignorant ban on hollowpoint ammunition), I frankly am opposed to federal gun laws.
I don’t want more federal gun laws, but instead want the federal gun laws that exist (the National Firearms Act of 1934, Gun Control Act of 1968, etc) repealed or declared unconstitutional.
Dhimmitude And Disarmament
Forthcoming article from David Kopel:
Under shari’a law, non-Muslims, known as dhimmi, have been forbidden to possess arms, and to defend themselves from attacks by Muslims. The disarmament is one aspect of the pervasive civil inferiority of non-Muslims, a status known as dhimmitude. This Essay examines the historical effects of the shari’a disarmament, based on three books by Bat Ye’or, the world’s leading scholar of dhimmitude. As Ye’or details, the disarmament had catastrophic consequences, extending far beyond the direct loss of the dhimmi’s ability to defend themselves. The essay concludes by observing how pretend gun-free zones on college campuses turn the adults there into 21st century dhimmi, unable to defend themselves against murderous predators.
