Muslim Woman Sues Gun Range Over Safety Rules

Rania Barakat and her husband went to Frontier Justice on Jan. 1, 2020, to shoot at its gun range. According to the lawsuit, Barakat was told she would not be allowed to use the range unless she removed her hijab, a religious head covering worn by some Muslim women.
Frontier Justice officials said in a statement posted on Facebook that the dress code rules, which have been in place since the store opened in 2015, are designed to protect people from being burned by expended brass and are not discriminatory.
The gun range requires shooters to remove all head coverings except baseball caps facing forward. A store manager explained that shrapnel could cause the hijab and skin to burn.
Police/Military Experience Does Not Equal Gun Expert

You see it all the time in news media. Former law enforcement officials or military personnel are asked to opine on how guns or gun laws work. It doesn’t matter if that person’s position had anything to do with firearms or if they’ve even fired a gun in the past decade.
The mistake is to some extent understandable. People in law enforcement or the military take gun safety training at some point in their career. So, everyone who ever served must know everything there is to know about guns. Right?
Well, of course, that’s not actually the case. Many military members only ever go through basic training and never handle a gun again after that point. Police officers in most major departments, even ones on active duty, are only required to requalify twice a year after their own training courses.
Shannon Lee Calls For More Gun Training On Movie Sets

The pair uses the program to show what black gun ownership in America looks like while being educational and, especially, entertaining.

Anti-gun Group Thinks People Buying Guns Is A Reason For More Gun Laws

Just as the coronavirus pandemic has exposed gaps within the U.S. health care and economic systems, the surge in gun sales during this period brings to the forefront weaknesses in the current laws and systems governing the sale and ownership of firearms and ammunition. Far too many gun sales are allowed to proceed without background checks, and gun owners face minimal legal requirements to ensure that guns are handled and stored safely. These gaps in the law create risks for all U.S. communities vulnerable to gun violence, and both federal and state policymakers should take this opportunity to strengthen these laws to help reduce gun violence.
Gun Sales Continue To Set Records

According to the FBI, there were 2,911,128 background checks conducted in April 2020. The closest any other April came to that figure was in 2019, when 2,334, 294 NICS checks were done.
April’s surge in background checks followed a March that shattered all one-month records. Breitbart News reported March 2020 witnessed 3,740,688 background checks, which were the most checks conducted in any single month since the inception of NICS.

Campuses Still Safe After Guns Allowed

All the universities contacted by journalists described no increase in violent crime, and at least one revealed a decrease in several nonviolent crimes.
Emporia State University, located in Kansas, reported a 0% change in violent crime on campus since the Kansas Personal and Family Protection Act’s university exemption prohibiting concealed carry on campus expired on July 1st, 2017.
Campuses Still Safe After Carry Laws Pass

Two anti-gun professors wrote in the Washington Post that “campus-carry laws will invite tragedies on college campuses, not end them.†Another liberal professor, writing for the New York Times, warned that “when there are more guns around, there is more risk – it’s as simple as that.â€
The trouble with such predictions is that they tend to be tested as time goes by. And as it turns out, they simply weren’t true. Students just aren’t waging the gun battles that anti-gun activists expected. A new report from the College Fix looked into this narrative, and it came up empty.
Hearing Association Supports Suppressors

On October 28th, the National Hearing Conservation Association sent its new position paper on firearms suppressors to the American Suppressor Association. The paper, in short, recognizes the important role that firearm suppressors play in reducing hearing loss associated with firearms and endorses the Hearing Protection Act, which would eliminate the current antiquated and overly complicated process for acquiring suppressors and instead use the same instant background check system that is used for almost all firearms.
Women Prefer AR-15

Speaking with the Washington Free Beacon on Friday, five female firearm owners and advocates said the AR-15 platform offers several features that are ideal for women specifically. Robyn M. Sandoval, executive director of A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League, said the rifle is both more effective and safer for female shooters.Â
