Dan Plesch: “They are gearing up totally for the destruction of Iran,†Fidel Castro warns of immenent war
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 11/Jul/2010 16:25
“They are gearing up totally for the destruction of Iran,†according to Dan Plesch, director of the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy at the University of London.
“US bombers and long range missiles are ready today to destroy 10,000 targets in Iran in a few hours,†he said. “The firepower of US forces has quadrupled since 2003,†accelerating under Obama.
The Arab press reports that an American fleet (with an Israeli vessel) passed through the Suez Canal on the way to the Persian Gulf, where its task is “to implement the sanctions against Iran and supervise the ships going to and from Iran.†British and Israeli media report that Saudi Arabia is providing a corridor for Israeli bombing of Iran (denied by Saudi Arabia).
The Obama administration has been rapidly expanding its offensive capacity in the African island of Diego Garcia, claimed by Britain, which had expelled the population so that the US could build the massive base it uses for attacking the Middle East and Central Asia.
The Navy reports sending a submarine tender to the island to service nuclear-powered guided-missile submarines with Tomahawk missiles, which can carry nuclear warheads. Each submarine is reported to have the striking power of a typical carrier battle group.
According to a US Navy cargo manifest obtained by the Sunday Herald (Glasgow), the substantial military equipment Obama has dispatched includes 387 “bunker busters†used for blasting hardened underground structures. Planning for these “massive ordnance penetrators,†the most powerful bombs in the arsenal short of nuclear weapons, was initiated in the Bush administration, but languished. On taking office, Obama immediately accelerated the plans, and they are to be deployed several years ahead of schedule, aiming specifically at Iran.
Fidel Castro is warning of an imminent war in the Persian Gulf. Released yesterday, this document reveals that Iran, Cuba, Chavez and their Axis are truly scared that the political war will soon be over and Iran will soon face punishment for their defiance.”

Taliban Attacks Kill 11 Afghan Policemen
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 11/Jul/2010 15:31
“KABUL, Afghanistan — Eleven police officers and a district governor were killed in three separate attacks by the Taliban in northeast Afghanistan, NATO and local officials said on Sunday.
Two took place in Kunduz Province, and the third was just outside the province. Throughout the early years of the Afghan war, most insurgent activity was focused in the south, with the north remaining relatively calm. But in the past two years, violence in the north has grown dramatically, especially in Kunduz Province.”

Creative Warriors?
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 11/Jul/2010 15:20
Does being a warrior mean simply carrying out orders? Isn’t it true that, given even the most clear, straightforward orders and objectives, circumstances often force warriors to adapt their strategies on the spur of the moment? Is it possible that the most effective warriors sometimes utilize ingenuity and creativity? Consider this: if, in it’s most basic form…
“To be creative requires divergent thinking (generating many unique ideas) and then convergent thinking (combining those ideas into the best result).”
Then wouldn’t a kind of pragmatic, real-world creativity be a major asset to a warrior? Creativity is often relegated to the realm of useless activity…like kindergarten finger-painting. Seems like our whole society could benefit from an improved focus on developing creativity – not as a touchy-feely group-hug-type activity, but as a discipline and skill for solving real-world problems and attaining significant objectives.

Dallas County sheriff’s jail guard arrested for being in country illegally
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 10/Jul/2010 13:04
A Dallas County sheriff’s jail guard was arrested at work Friday morning by federal immigration officers on accusations of being in the country illegally and now faces deportation, county and federal officials said.
Maria Elvia Ross, 34, of Irving was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers sometime after 10 a.m. on civil immigration violations, ICE spokesman Carl Rusnok said.
“Administration’s ‘Silent Raids’ Lead to Firings, Not Deportations
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 10/Jul/2010 12:29
“The Obama administration’s new approach to dealing with companies that hire illegal immigrants results in firings, not deportations, the New York Times reported Friday.
Instead of immigration sweeps at factories and farms which used to lead to illegal workers being shipped out of the country, the administration’s new policy—government conducted audits labeled “silent raids†by employers—usually only result in the workers losing their jobs, the Times said.”
It seems to me this policy will only produce more and more unemployed illegal immigrants wandering around the US, with no income. What do hungry, desperate people do when they have no income? Eventually they either go somewhere where they can find work or they take what they need from someone else.
This policy of getting illegal workers fired but not deporting them is going to have a massive negative impact on our crime rate. Maybe not immediately, but as the population of out-of-work, hungry illegal immigrants grows, the crime will grow. Maybe this is one of those “fundamental changes” we were promised.
When is it time to deport?
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 10/Jul/2010 12:27
by YankeeJim:
When a person is discovered to be in the USA illegally, should not the person be deported immediately? Should not their name go down on a list, like three strikes, that says if you are caught again, your chances of ever getting into the country again diminish? What about prosecuting the companies that hire illegals? They know what credentials are required and if they have a question, they can call Immigration and Customs Enforcement and ask.
Five US soldiers killed in Afghanistan attacks – June worst month for casualties since 2001

Five US soldiers have been killed in separate incidents of violence in Afghanistan, Nato has said.
Three died in east Afghanistan and two were killed in separate roadside bombings in the south.
More than 350 Nato soldiers have been killed this year.
In other violence, gunmen killed 11 Pakistani Shia tribesmen in the east and one person was killed by a motorbike bomb in Kandahar.
Also on Saturday, hundreds of Afghans took to the streets of the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif in protest at increasing civilian deaths.
Canadian Muslim immigrant charged with plotting genocide of Canadian Jews
Posted by Jack Sinclair in News on 10/Jul/2010 00:23
“A Muslim immigrant who called for “the slaughter of Jews” in online postings has become the first person to be charged with promoting genocide in Canada, police said on Friday.
Salman Hossain, a 25-year-old from Bangladesh who apparently left Canada in May, was charged with five counts of promoting hatred and advocating or promoting genocide over postings on his website and blog, as well as on a third-party website, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said.
He “wilfully promoted hatred and advocated genocide of the Jewish community,” said a statement.
Mr Hossain, who immigrated to Canada as a child, openly called for “violent regime change in Western nations in order to remove the presence of Jews” and “the slaughter of Jews,” according to reports.
He also advocated terrorist attacks in Canada, cheered the killing of Canadian troops in Afghanistan, and urged fellow Muslims to overthrow the “Jewish-run Canadian government”.”

He immigrated as a child to a peaceful, tolerant (maybe too tolerant?) country – Canada – and yet, when he grew up to be a young man he actively and openly advocated killing Jews and committing terrorist attacks in Canada. Why? Where did he learn this? Where was his loyalty to Canada, the country that took him and his family in?
