Gun Businesses Harassed By Tech Companies

“The issue of oligarchical control over the Internet and all the impact over the ability to use it for free speech is going to only get worse,” Kasarda told Fox News, alluding to the “big five” — YouTube, Google, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
“It is unclear what the rules are,” he added. “Specifically, with YouTube, they pretty much enforce whatever they feel based on their bias of the day. Regardless of your personal belief, firearms and their accessories are legal in the United States. So why are we seeing continuing restrictions and challenges towards content about something demonstrably legal yet not against that which is clearly illegal?”

The do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do behavior of those imposing these rules isn’t boosting trust in authorities, either, whether it be Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot going out to get her hair done or New York Mayor Bill de Blasio being driven to his gym even as they were imploring everyone else to stay home. On Monday Mark Zuckerberg told George Stephanopoulos on ABC News that Facebook now classifies “a lot of the stuff†protesters are saying as “harmful misinformationâ€â€”and that Facebook will “take that down.â€
Facebook Banning Protest Events

Facebook has said it will allow groups on its platform to organise protests against social distancing, so long as the protesters plan to abide by social distancing rules.
Protests have sprung up across the US in recent days in defiance of lockdown measures aimed at containing the spread of the coronavirus. Many of the demonstrations have been organised through Facebook groups, some of which have in excess of 70,000 members.
Instagram Bans Promotion Of Guns/Vaping

Facebook and Instagram will no longer allow influencers to promote vaping, tobacco products or weapons on its platforms using “branded content.â€
Instagram announced Wednesday it would no longer allow “branded content†that promotes those goods on either platform. In June, Instagram a change that would let advertisers promote posts from influencers, or users who work with brands to promote services or products. Users see a “paid partnership with†tag on a post when viewing that branded content on Instagram.
Florida College Suspends Student For Range Picture

Right Wing News had more than 3 million followers at the time of its blacklisting by Facebook.

On Thursday, October 11, Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook’s Head of Cybersecurity Policy and Oscar Rodriguez, Product Manager, announced the company was shutting down 559 pages and 251 accounts “created to stir up political debate.” Allegedly, the targets were guilty of “coordinated inauthentic behavior” intended “to mislead others about who they are, and what they are doing.” The targeted pages and accounts included many pages, and their administrators, who have gained popularity by voicing ideas outside the mainstream—including skepticism of violent and intrusive police tactics and support for libertarian ideas.
Facebook Censors Gun Stories Based On Source Site

CRPC decided to share a Fox News piece detailing the research they conducted on their Facebook page. The organization wanted to boost their post as an ad so more people would see the study’s results. That’s when Facebook’s bias became clear.
One of the ads CRPC posted was a direct link to their website where people could download the study’s results. Facebook quickly approved the ad and all was fine.
When the organization went to post an ad linking to a Fox News article that detailed the study’s results, the ad was not approved.
Facebook Censoring Links To Gun File Site

Brandon Combs, president of the Firearms Policy Coalition, told the Free Beacon that links to CodeIsFreeSpeech.com have been blocked by Facebook, and Amazon has taken the site down from its servers. The website, which has republished the gun-design files at the center of the Wilson case, is a joint project of the Firearms Policy Coalition, Firearms Policy Foundation, Calguns Foundation, and California Association of Federal Firearms Licenses. Combs said publishing the files was within their First Amendment rights and the actions taken by employees at the tech giants is an attempt to censor them that he believes may have wide-ranging consequences

Journalists Want Exemption To Facebook Rules

In a letter sent Monday, lawyers for a group of researchers and journalists asked Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder and chief executive, to alter the agreement that people must adhere to to use the site. They want Facebook to create a news-gathering exception to its bans on creating inauthentic accounts and on using automated tools that scrape public data about users for large-scale analysis.
