Florida City Council Members May Have To Pay Fines For Enacting Gun Restrictions
From Ammoland:
The five-member Okeechobee, Florida city council and Police Chief Donald Hagan may each be forced to pay $5,000 personally – without using taxpayer dollars – for violating Florida’s powerful preemption statute, which only allows the state legislature to regulate firearms.
As previously reported, the city adopted an illegal ordinance shortly before Hurricane Helene made landfall, which banned the sale of guns and ammunition and prohibited firearm possession in public by anyone other than law enforcement or members of the military.
Florida Will Soon Have Open Carry
From Ammoland:
GOA and Hughes sued State Attorney Thomas Bakkedahl and St Lucie County Sherriff Keith Pearson over the state’s ban on the open carrying of firearms. Florida law bans the practice unless the carrier is engaged in the act of hunting or fishing. All other citizens open carrying a firearm are subject to arrest. Florida is one of the only states in the country not to allow the open carrying of guns. The plaintiffs in the case believe the law is unconstitutional and violates the Second Amendment.
The Trace Uses Assassination Attempt To Attack Supreme Court Gun Rights Decision
From The Truth About Guns:
In its latest Bruen-bashing editorial, hot on the heels of its latest series about the decision, The Trace tries to make readers think that Ryan Routh, the Democrat donor and latest attempted Trump assassin, will likely walk free because of the Supreme Court ruling.
“Supreme Court Ruling Threatens Gun Charges Filed in Trump’s Alleged Assassination Attempt,” the headline reads. First let’s set the “Alleged” part aside. There was an assassination attempt, no “Alleged” to it. The man arrested is the “alleged” would-be assassin, but I don’t believe any thinking person really believes there wasn’t an attempt on Trump’s life.
Private School Has Had Armed Teachers For Over A Decade, Defying Propaganda
From Ammoland:
When Eddie and Claire Speir founded Inspiration Academy 11 years ago, not arming teachers wasn’t even a consideration.
Today, Speir has more than 200 students and dozens of teachers, coaches and other professionals. His staff is armed and dedicated to protecting their students.
ATF Inspector Violated Their Authority To Deny Gun Purchase
From The Truth About Guns:
In a small, but significant example of more government overreach, an ATF Industry Operations Investigator violated the Second Amendment rights of a central Florida man last month when he ordered a gun dealer to halt a pistol sale because he believed the purchaser possibly smelled of marijuana.

US Attorney Drops Attempt To Gag Journalist
From The Truth About Guns:
It seems AUSA Taylor’s motion for prior restraint…wasn’t well-received by the trial judge. At all.
In fact, as we just heard from one of the involved parties, the judge’s displeasure (probably combined with the fact that Crump was well-represented by very able counsel) was such that Taylor apparently thought better of her clearly unconstitutional, half-baked motion and withdrew it.
Permit-less Carry Hasn’t Stopped Citizens Taking Gun Classes
From Bearing Arms:
Though lawful gun owners in the Sunshine State no longer need to possess a state-issued concealed carry license in order to lawfully bear arms, firearms instructors in Florida say they’re still seeing plenty of interest from gun owners who are signing up for training. That doesn’t surprise me too much, since the those who choose to carry a firearm for self-defense have a vested interest in being comfortable and competent when they do so, but it’s still a good sign as well as a refutation of the gun control advocates who predicted that scores of Floridians would decide to start carrying without the slightest bit of training simply because they can.
Florida Attacks Credit Card Tracking Gun Purchases
From NSSF:
“This is the United States of America. You don’t get penalized for exercising a Constitutional right. The Second Amendment is nonnegotiable, and here in Florida, we are going to fight to protect the rights of Floridians,” Republican state Sen. Danny Burgess recently proclaimed.
Dem Congresswoman Violates Election Law In Front Of Media
From Ammoland:
The reported incident took place at Jan Kaminis Platt Regional Library in South Tampa. Castor, who was not there to cast a vote, reportedly entered through the exit with a news media crew embedded with her campaign.
Castor violated the 150-foot exclusion zone, which prohibits candidates and campaign officials from campaigning at polling locations and is a violation of the law. Additionally, walking in through the exit is also in itself a violation of Florida election laws.
Press Attacks Sheriff Who Told Citizens To Shoot Home Invaders
From Ammoland:
During a press conference after Harris’ arrest, Sheriff Johnson discussed the homeowner who had fired at Harris, who never came forward.
“I guess they think that they did something wrong, which they did not. If somebody’s breaking into your house, you’re more than welcome to shoot them in Santa Rosa County. We prefer that you do, actually,” Johnson said. “So, whoever that was, you’re not in trouble. Come see us. We have a gun safety class we put on every other Saturday. And if you take that, you’ll shoot a lot better and hopefully you’ll save the taxpayers money.”
Feds Payout $127 Million After Failing To Follow Tips On Parkland Shooter
From The Daily Mail:
The US government has agreed to pay $127.5m to the relatives of 17 killed in a 2018 school shooting after admitting the FBI failed to follow up two tips that could have prevented it.
Federal officials confirmed the settlement with families of those murdered, as well as survivors, following the February 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, by former student Nikolas Cruz.
Registration Open For 2022 Gun Maker’s Match
From Ammoland:
The match will take place on March 19, 2022, in St Augustine, FL. The Gun Maker’s Match is a competition where the competitors use guns that are home built. These firearms range from guns made from kits like the Polymer80 to 3D printed firearms frames and receivers. The match is organized by the Guns for Everyone gun-rights group.
Inaugural Gun Makers Match
From The Truth About Guns:
The DIY gun competition was the brainchild of Rob Pincus, well known shooting instructor and (sometimes controversial) gun rights advocate. Rob has become a staunch advocate of individual gun making and organized the event along with Guns For Everyone National (GFEN) and the AWCY? support community.
Rubio Proposes Anti Gun Bill
From The Federalist:
Individuals, the legislation states, do not have to be guilty for the FBI director and the Joint Terrorism Task Force to be alerted when they attempt to purchase or receive a transferred firearm. The U.S. attorney general is also notified and retains the power to stall the process for up to 10 business days and file an emergency petition to halt the gun procedure until a court can rule on it as long as the individual is notified.
