Evidence Mounts That Jan 6 Was A Fedsurrection
From The Federalist:
In a closed-door session with the same committee, Steven D’Antuono, former assistant director-in-charge of the FBI’s Washington field office, allegedly conceded that he lost count of the number of confidential human sources who joined the protest.
No Cares About The Police Violence That Killed Ashli Babbitt
From The Federalist:
Months after the Department of Justice (DOJ) opted not to charge the unnamed U.S. Capitol Police officer who killed Ashli Babbitt on Jan. 6, a memo obtained by NBC News indicates the investigation will be fully closed.
Four Capitol Officers Have Committed Suicide
What is going on? From The Hill:
A fourth law enforcement officer who responded to the Capitol on Jan. 6 has died by suicide, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) confirmed to The Hill on Monday.
A department spokesman said Officer Kyle DeFreytag, who had been with the department since November 2016, was found dead on July 10. Police confirmed DeFreytag, 26, was among a host of MPD officers who were sent to the Capitol in response to the riot.
Washington To Ban Firearms At Protests And State Capitol
From Crosscut:
Over opposition from Republicans and gun-rights activists, both houses of the Legislature have passed a ban on weapons within 250 feet of protests or on the Capitol campus in Olympia. Backers say empowering police to remove or arrest armed onlookers addresses widespread complaints from demonstrators and reduces a bona fide safety risk.
After a year of protests in Portland and Seattle about police brutality and defunding the police Washington State now wants to give the police more power? The entire Northwest is schizophrenic. They don’t know what they want.
Jan 6 Capitol Story Continues To Change
From Glenn Greenwald:
Condemning that riot does not allow, let alone require, echoing false claims in order to render the event more menacing and serious than it actually was. There is no circumstance or motive that justifies the dissemination of false claims by journalists. The more consequential the event, the less justified, and more harmful, serial journalistic falsehoods are.
Yet this is exactly what has happened, and continues to happen, since that riot almost seven weeks ago. And anyone who tries to correct these falsehoods is instantly attacked with the cynical accusation that if you want only truthful reporting about what happened, then you’re trying to “minimize†what happened and are likely an apologist for if not a full-fledged supporter of the protesters themselves.
Capitol Police Kill Unarmed Protestor
From NY Post:
A female Air Force vet and Trump supporter from California has been identified as the protester killed in the Capitol building Wednesday.
Michigan Bill Banning Guns In Capitol Fails
From Bearing Arms:
Two bills banning guns inside the state Capitol are now in a committee that a state senator says is “where bills are sent to die.â€
See, as noted in Wednesday’s post, she claims that the openly-carried firearms were about intimidation and presented it as though that was the motive behind her bill.
Michigan AG Says No Law Needed To Ban Gun On Capitol
From Bearing Arms:
After armed protestors poured into the state capitol building in Lansing, Michigan last week, several lawmakers responded by saying they wanted to see guns banned from the capitol complex. Now the state’s Attorney General has weighed in, telling lawmakers that the state’s Capitol Commission has the authority to enact a ban, without the need for the Legislature to approve any changes.
Protest Critic Gets It Half Right
From Level:
History has a funny way of coming back around. Both the Black Panthers and these protestors were exercising their First Amendment right to peaceably assemble. Both were exercising their Second Amendment right to bear arms — except only the Panthers were doing so in a way that matched the issue being protested. The Michigan demonstrators were using their rifles, apparently, to stop a pandemic.
Facts About Virginia Gun Owners
From The Truth About Guns:
Virginia State Police data reveal that there are 642,396 permit holders in the Commonwealth. On average, 733 permits are revoked annually, or roughly 0.11%—barely one tenth of one percent. That is an impressive statistic supporting just how law abiding concealed carry permit holders are.
Guns In OK Capitol?
From Bearing Arms:
An Oklahoma lawmaker wants to allow those with a valid handgun license to carry guns in the Capitol, something that is currently prohibited.
Senate Bill 38, authored by Sen. David Bullard, R-Durant, would allow individuals with a valid handgun license to proceed through a security checkpoint with a weapon after presenting the license.
Stopping a Suicide Bomber
Posted by Brian in Threat Watch on 8/Jan/2013 02:12
From FBI:
After months of consideration, a target was picked and a date was set: On February 17, 2012, Amine Mohamed El-Khalifi would strap on a bomb-laden vest and—in the name of jihad—blow himself up at an entrance to the U.S. Capitol. If anyone tried to stop him, he would shoot them with a MAC-10 assault weapon.
Getting A Gun In D.C.
An editor at the Washington Times is documenting her attempt to attain a handgun in the nation’s capitol.
My quest to get a legal handgun in Washington, D.C. feels daunting. I went to the D.C. Firearms Registration office two weeks ago to start the process of getting a legal gun by picking up a 22-page packet of forms and instructions.
The second amendment says “…the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”. The rules and regulations do just that, infringe. These laws are intended to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, but why would any criminal attempt to get a gun in such a manner when they could go buy one on the black market. Laws never prevent anyone from committing an act, they are only used for punishment after the fact.
