Students Walk Out Of Vigil Turned Gun Control Rally

Survivors of a Colorado school shooting walked out of vigil for their slain classmate on Wednesday night in protest of politicians and other groups using it as a platform for gun control, a local report said.
The students from STEM High School, where two gunman killed a student and wounded eight others on Tuesday, began yelling from the stands that they “wanted to be heard†after two politicians and pro-gun control advocates addressed the crowd, according to the local NBC affiliate, KUSA.

Remember The Heroes Not The Shooters

These deaths are horrifying. The incidents are terrifying. But notice something important. We are blessed that the numbers of fatalities are far lower than they were at places such as Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, or Santa Fe High School in Texas. And a big part of that lower death toll can be summed up in one word: heroes. In fact, of the four total fatalities in the three incidents, three of the dead were people who took heroic action. Two of the dead were young men who directly charged their attackers.
What’s more, we’re now remembering the heroes’ names more than the shooters. The shooters failed in two of their core missions — to kill large numbers of victims and achieve enduring fame. And if they keep failing, I wonder . . . could the mass-shooting contagion finally start to break?

Gun Rights Denied Because Of Juvenile Conviction

The Washington State Supreme Court has overturned a lower court order that would have allowed a man convicted of juvenile felonies to get a concealed pistol license.
The court ruled Thursday that a federal prohibition still applies to his juvenile crimes, even though they were later ordered sealed.

Senator Wants To Register All Gun Owners

Booker’s campaign compares buying a gun to driving a car, arguing that “just as a driver’s license demonstrates a person’s eligibility and proficiency to drive a car, a gun license demonstrates that a person is eligible and can meet certain basic safety and training standards necessary to own a gun.” Under Booker’s system, anyone who wants a gun would have to prove he or she has passed a gun safety course. In addition to giving information on their background, applicants would also submit fingerprints.
If approved, prospective gun buyers would be issued a license. “The license would be valid for up to five years before renewal with regular, automatic checks to flag non-compliance with license terms,” the proposal says. Under another part of the plan, no one would be able to buy more than one handgun a month, though this restriction presumably wouldn’t apply to rifles and shotguns.

Senator Wants To Disenfranchise Adults Under 21

U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein intends to introduce a bill to Congress that would ban the sale of “high capacity†magazines and “assault weapons†to adults under age 21.
Feinstein, a California Democrat who is the ranking minority member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said on Monday that she intends to propose the legislation in coming days.

Public Range Bill Passes House

A bipartisan measure to increase the number of shooting ranges available on public land passed the U.S. House on Monday. The bill, H.R.1222, was introduced in February by U.S. Reps. Ron Kind, D-Wisc. and Rob Bishop, R-Utah. The proposal proved uncontroversial and passed in a voice vote this week following on the heels of a similar vote in the Senate on an identical measure earlier this month.
