What did those countries where the Nazis saw armed resistance have in common? The resistance forces had access to private weapons. Polish resistance forces such as the Home Army had stored caches of military-grade weapons before the country’s final surrender. Jewish militias that would later rise up in the Warsaw ghetto had also obtained weapons, sometimes from other sympathetic Poles. In Yugoslavia, Ukraine, Belarus, and the parts of Western Russia that saw serious partisan activity, the resisters were also armed with leftover military weapons or smuggled arms from Stalin. French resistance forces — which only became a serious threat when Hitler broke his alliance with Stalin in 1941 and French Communists stopped collaborating — had stockpiled caches of arms, and received more via airdrops from Britain.
NY State Senator Wants To Ban Sale And Manufacture Of Firearms

Specifically, the bill would amend New York State’s public nuisance law to allow the state to prosecute the “sale or manufacture of products†as an activity considered to illegally or unreasonably “create or maintain a condition which endangers the safety or health of a considerable number of persons.â€
While the language doesn’t mention firearms specifically, Myrie made clear in comments to the New York Daily News that guns are exactly the “products†he has in mind. “Every illegal gun on the street was a legally purchased gun at one time,†he said. Myrie continued: “In the wake of a gun violence epidemic plaguing the city, state, and nation, we have a duty to hold all responsible parties accountable.â€
Online Gun Sales Can’t Be Stopped

Private gun sales are banned from most social media platforms, including Facebook, but a new Wall Street Journal story shows just how difficult it can be to proactively enforce the ban, given the creative ways that users have found to get around the edict.
According to the WSJ, would-be gun sellers are now posting pictures of stickers for sale alongside a gun company logo. Interested buyers are encouraged to contact the seller for more info, and that’s when the talk can turn from stickers to sidearms.
Gun Sales May Not Translate To Votes

Take this USA Today factcheck headlined “Kamala Harris didn’t say she’d send police to take firearms via executive order.†You may notice the highly narrow specificity of this debunking. It’s a little game political media like to play — the Associated Press miraculously ran almost an identical piece on the same day — in which reporters take a hyperbolic backbencher’s comments or a misleading social-media post — in this case, a Facebook post that is “gaining traction†— and use it as a strawman to deceive voters about one of the controversial positions of their favored politician.
Recent Defensive Gun Uses Make The Case For Less Regulation

According to a 2013 report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost every major study on the issue has found that Americans use their firearms in self-defense between 500,000 and 3 million times a year. American Samoan Wins Case In Hawaii

Of course powerful, wealthy, politically-connected elites are exceptions, routinely obtaining the rare and coveted unrestricted handgun carry licenses that are unavailable to the average citizen.
And criminals don’t obey handgun licensing rules or any other state or city law pertaining to firearms, so they don’t care how many laws the city enacts. This hasn’t changed and never will.
But it’s deeply troubling to believe New York City’s harsh, even despotic handgun licensing scheme continues to escape constitutional scrutiny, a point Halbrook makes at the outset of his article, when he states,“‘Under New York law, it is a crime to possess a firearm’, held the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in U.S. vs. Sanchez-Villar (2004). This ruling was based on the state’s ban on the possession of an unlicensed handgun. This prohibition did not offend the Second Amendment, said this ruling, because ‘the right to possess a gun is clearly not a fundamental right.’ Later rulings by the U.S. Supreme Court—D.C v. Heller (2008) and McDonald v. Chicago (2010—begged to differ. . . . But the Second Circuit must not have gotten the memo. . . .â€
