Surge In Asian Americans Buying Guns Continues
From Bearing Arms:
After months of rising anti-Asian hatred, many others like Kim are having a change of heart about firearms. Tired of relying on bystanders for aid that sometimes never comes, more Asian Americans are bucking entrenched cultural perceptions of guns and overcoming language barriers to help fuel a spike in U.S. gun ownership. While there is no official data on firearm purchases by Asian Americans, a survey by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) indicated that Asian Americans bought 42% more firearms and ammunition in the first six months of 2020 than they did in the same timeframe the year before. At Jimmy’s Sportshop in Mineola, N.Y., where guns and pepper spray have been flying off the shelves since the pandemic, gun purchases by Asian buyers have surged 100% due to recent fears of attacks, according to Jimmy Gong and Jay Zeng, the shop’s Chinese-American owners.
Three Quarters Of Americans Support Gun Rights
From Ammoland:
Here are some of the takeaways from the March ’21 polling.
- From Rasmussen’s last survey in 2018, support for the 2A has grown. (Up 4%)
- 76% believe the 2A guarantees a right to own a gun, only 16% disagree, and 8% are unsure.
- 62% are opposed to repealing the 2A, with 27% calling for repeal and 11% unsure.
The Hypocrisy Of Guns vs Immigration
From Reason:
When state and local officials decline to help enforce federal firearm rules they view as unconstitutional, The New York Times says, they are adopting “a legally shaky but politically potent strategy” with racist roots. But when state and local officials decline to help enforce federal immigration rules they view as “unjust, self-defeating and harmful to public safety,” the Times says, they should be “proud” of “choos[ing] not to participate in deportation crackdowns.”
Troy Industries Moves to Tennessee From Massachusetts
From Guns.com:
Springfield, Massachusetts-based Troy Industries is leaving the anti-gun Commonwealth for friendlier digs down south in the Volunteer State.
The nearly 20-year-old gun, magazine, and accessory maker announced this week that it will relocate its headquarters and manufacturing plant to Clarksville, Tennessee. The $7.2 million move will begin this June and will offer 75 new jobs in the Montgomery County area.
Gun Writer Starts New Website: The Reload
From The Washingtonian:
That’s why the Washington Free Beacon reporter is putting his livelihood on the line—his last day at the conservative outlet was Friday. As of today, he’s started the Reload, an independent publication based on the Substack model, where people subscribe directly to his reporting. But Gutowski, who’s a certified firearms instructor and who has been one of the best reporters to follow about the NRA’s turmoil, isn’t leaving the Beacon for Substack. He’s built the Reload himself for a couple thousand bucks—his biggest expense was buying the URL—and living on money he saved during the pandemic while he sees whether readers will follow him as he “explains the politics and the guns,†as he says.
Wyoming Targets Anti-Gun Banking With New Law
From Bearing Arms:
Laws like these need to be replicated throughout the land. Since the federal government has done little to offer up the proper protections to industry members from being discriminated against, freedom oriented states are stepping up to the plate and swinging for civil rights. How Operation Chokepoint has not been subject to a RICO level scrutiny escapes me, as well as the continued chill since the formal dissolution of the program. The fact of the matter is these practices are illegal, as they are creating different classes of people and businesses, refusing to serve “those peopleâ€.
3D Printing And DRM
From Ammoland:
If companies get into 3D printing, you can be sure they will do everything in their power to shut down sites that violate their patents on their IP. It will destroy the 3D printing community. Corporations would usurp the small tight knit group of designs like CTRL Pew and Ivan The Troll.
Another drawback of DRM is that a lot of it is going to an “online-only†model. This model is standard with video games. The game reaches out to a remote server to validate the copy of the software. If a gamer wants to play a single-player game offline, they can’t. The game requires an internet connection to run.
With gun files, this means every time to print something a server knows, and it isn’t too much of a jump to assume the government knows as well. This situation would defeat the whole purpose of 3D printing gun files. Using 3D printers to print gun files is to defeat gun control and not feed into it.
Rubio Proposes Anti Gun Bill
From The Federalist:
Individuals, the legislation states, do not have to be guilty for the FBI director and the Joint Terrorism Task Force to be alerted when they attempt to purchase or receive a transferred firearm. The U.S. attorney general is also notified and retains the power to stall the process for up to 10 business days and file an emergency petition to halt the gun procedure until a court can rule on it as long as the individual is notified.
Missouri Gun Shop Doesn’t Want Biden Supporters
From The Gateway Pundit:
The gun shop made the hilarious announcement in a Facebook post, which triggered quite a bit of outrage from the left.
“We don’t have guns or ammo for Biden Supporters. Sorry for the inconvenience,†the shop wrote.
Facebook Deletes Popular Gun Website’s Page
From The Truth About Guns:
Then, late Monday afternoon, Facebook unpublished The Truth About Guns’ page. No warning or explanation was given and we haven’t been able to publish anything to our timeline there since. The matter has been escalated through the usual impenetrably opaque processes, but we’ve heard nothing and have to assume at this point that the Zuckerborg has no intention of restoring the account.
A Cuban’s Warning About Gun Registration
From The Truth About Guns:
Son, I see things are playing out here in America just as they did back in Cuba when I was a child. Did you know your grandfather had a .44 magnum revolver? Your grandfather had lots of firearms including a western-style lever action rifle, a .38 revolver and a few shotguns.
