California City With Most Carry Permits Has Least Homicides

New data out of California provides more evidence that the presence of legal gun owners and lawful gun carries doesn’t increase crime. The Fresno Bee recently reported that Fresno County has the highest number of concealed carry licensees in the state, followed by Orange County. If “more guns equals more crimeâ€, then more people carrying guns should lead to more crime as well, and yet both Fresno and Orange County have lower homicide rates than Los Angeles County, home to more than 10-million residents but just 424 concealed carry licensees.
Will Small Shops Survive Illinois Gun Control?

A new gun control law aimed squarely at gun shops in the state of Illinois takes effect today. The Firearms Dealer License Certification Act requires all gun stores across the state to be licensed by the Illinois State Police as well as the federal government, and in order to get that state license firearm retailers have to navigate a maze of red tape and comply with onerous new restrictions. In some cases, gun shops are shutting down rather than try to meet the new requirements, and other stores are ditching gun and ammo sales completely.
A Gun Violence Solution

The most disturbing part of this issue is there are good solutions available, but the mainstream media have no interest in them, as they require us to focus on the actual problem – the criminal element in our society and the mentally ill.
The mainstream media, instead, are waging a political war. They want to win power for their preferred political party. They have little interest in doing honest reporting on gang violence and how we can make inner city communities safer.
Chicago Dem Calls For More Gun Permits

LaShawn Ford has served as an Illinois State Representative since 2007. Like his fellow Chicago Democrat General Assembly members, he has been a fairly consistent vote against gun rights since, well, forever.
But he recently appeared on radio station WLS-AM encouraging residents to arm themselves and get their carry licenses.
California Town Becomes 2nd Amendment Sanctuary

When you think of “Needles, California†these days, your first thought is probably of the syringe-strewn streets of San Francisco, not the small town on the California-Arizona border. Needles actually made some news recently, though, thanks to the decision by city leaders to declare their home a “2nd Amendment Sanctuary.†As it turns out, Needles is having a hard time competing with its Arizona neighbors like Fort Mojave, Bullhead City, and Lake Havasu City when it comes to things like tax revenues from retail. Not surprisingly, Arizona gun owners would rather shop in Arizona (a constitutional carry state that also recognizes every other state’s concealed handgun licenses) instead of California, where Arizonans can’t legally carry a firearm. But gun owners in Needles are also being harmed by California’s gun laws.
Criminal Justice Reform For Gun Rights

Many have argued that there’s no reason to deny convicted felons their guns rights once they’ve paid their debt to society. If they’re deemed safe enough to release from prison, the thinking goes, why can’t they exercise their Second Amendment rights as they would any other?
This seems particularly reasonable in the case of felons who were convicted of non-violent crimes. Now the Firearms Policy Coalition, along with the Firearms Policy Foundation, the Second Amendment Foundation and others have filed a brief in a case against a man who was charged with possession of a firearm following a felony fraud conviction years earlier.
Dems Block Measure To Reduce Gun Regulations

The move, an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act — the must-pass funding bill for the military — was agreed to in a Democrat-heavy 225 to 205 vote. Introduced by U.S. Rep. Norma Torres, D-CA, the proposal would block President Trump’s nearly complete transfer of several weapons categories from export licensing controlled by the State Department to the more relaxed purview of the Commerce Department.
The three categories of the State Department’s United States Munitions List — those dealing with small arms including firearms, close assault weapons, combat shotguns and ammunition and ordnance — are set to transfer to the Commerce Control List, which, as previously reported, could benefit domestic gun and ammo makers looking to sell more overseas.
TX County Becomes Gun Sanctuary

Citizens filled the Presidio County courthouse on Wednesday, where—after hearing testimony supporting a proposed gun rights resolution—the commissioners court voted unanimously to declare the county a gun rights sanctuary.
Challenge To New Machine Gun Manufacturing

Several years ago, Nick Bronsozian was charged with possession of an unregistered machinegun under a tax law statute. The provision in question, 26 U.S.C. § 5861(d), says that in order to have a machinegun registered, a tax must be paid on it. Simple enough, right? Bronsozian didn’t pay his tax. Case closed. That’s what the government argued anyway, but the situation is more complicated than that.
A subsequently enacted law, 18 U.S.C. § 922(o), prevents the government from registering and accepting tax payments on new machineguns. So Bronsozian was charged and convicted of a felony for not paying a tax that the government would not allow him to pay. If that strikes you as odd, it’s probably because you’ve read the Constitution.
NZ Non-Compliance With Gun Confiscation

Student Suspended For Picture Of Airsoft Gun

A Maryland eighth grader was suspended for three weeks and did not get to graduate with his class in June. This was his punishment for appearing in the background of a friend’s video in which said friend held a disabled airsoft gun. The eighth grader also posed for a photo with the friend, who held him in a headlock with the fake gun pointing at his head. The picture was shared with 13 other friends on Snapchat.
PA Law Challenged On Due Process

On July 3, 2019, Gun Owners of America (GOA) and its legal arm, Gun Owners Foundation (GOF) — in cooperation with local gun groups — filed an Amici Curiae brief with the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. The brief is supporting gun owners who had their constitutional right to keep and bear arms violated by Section 302 of the Pennsylvania Mental Health Procedures Act (MHPA).
Ford Forces Dealership To Cancel Gun Promotion

Chatom Ford in Chatom, Ala., released a statement saying, “We were running a promotion celebrating this country’s independence. Ford Motor Company has asked us to stop running the advertisement. They manufacture the products we are franchised to sell, so we are complying with their request.†The small-town dealer added that they “appreciate everyone’s support,†and will honor the promotion up to the point when Ford made them stop it.

CA Bullet Control Faces Legal Challenge

With reported widespread glitches and bugs in California’s new bullet control plan, Second Amendment groups are promising to soon see the state in court. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Proposition 63, which among other tenets requires a background check on every ammunition sale in California, kicked fully into effect this week and in many cases left a bad taste in the mouths of would-be ammo buyers.
The Associated Press reported long lines at gun stores and confusion about the new regulations along with delays and frustration. One gun owner documented his experience being denied the opportunity to attempt a check even though he had a current California driver’s license and U.S. passport. Such problems, say gun advocates, cues up the new law for a legal challenge.
