It has been becoming a center for conservative networking and interaction. There appears to be an effort to stop the rise, at least at the New York Times. A recent New York Times (NYT) Magazine article (14 July) has painted the BRCC executives as, at minimum, moderates who despise their base but see them like sheep to be fleeced.

I suppose we should be thankful when anti-gun activists come up with a proposal that doesn’t directly infringe on our right to keep and bear arms, but I still can’t get behind the not-so-bright idea from a couple of higher ups at the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. Research director Dan Romer and Patrick E. Jamieson, who’s the head of the center’s Annenberg Health and Risk Communication Institute say it’s time to reduce shootings by “giving guns on TV the cigarette treatment,†claiming that one way to reduce demand for firearms is to stop showcasing them on television.

A new ABC News/Washington Post poll released Tuesday from among more than 1,000 U.S. adults found that Americans overall are less supportive of new gun control legislations than they were just three years ago. People between the ages of 18-29 saw the sharpest decline in backing for new weapons laws, with fewer than half now saying new legislation is needed to reduce the risk of future mass shootings or to block “red flag” buyers.

NASCAR Refuses Gun Ads

Dark Storm Industries said an ad it submitted featuring one of the company’s AR-15s was rejected and online retailer K-Var Corp. said an ad featuring an AK-47 and 9mm handgun was also rejected. Both said a NASCAR advertising agency solicited ads from them for NASCAR publications. They submitted ads but were told NASCAR would not accept them.
YouTube Continues Crackdown On Gun Channels

So, YouTube appears to have informally implemented a new, unspoken policy (i.e., I could not find this in the content guidelines) whereby it will demonetize videos which aren’t shot in a “controlled environment†such as a “shooting range.â€
This raises a lot of questions, not the least of which is:
How does YouTube determine what usage is improper? Is there someone at YouTube with proper training on safe gun handling who will implement these policies?*
How will they know when someone is in a “controlled environment†or not, and who has the authority to reach that conclusion?
Is a shooting range, in fact, safer and more “controlled†than the creator’s private property such that this policy needs to be implemented, to begin with?

Most people, says Jeff Wait, the owner of Okeechobee Shooting Sports in Central Florida, think more gun laws will be a quick fix to a really hard problem. He doesn’t believe gun laws could fix anything.
Gun Divide Increasing Along With Political Divide

A new study out of the University of Kansas confirms what many have anecdotally known — a majority of gun owners vote Republican. What may be news, however, is the growing “gun gap.†That term is a reference to the disparity in the percentage of gun owners who identify with either Democrat or Republican parties. The study found that while the percentage of gun owners who vote Republican since 1973 has remained relatively constant, the number of gun owners voting Democrat has dropped significantly.
