YouTube To Crackdown On Gun Content, Destroy Livelihoods
From Bearing Arms:
“Restricting access to adults only—for content that depicts wholly legal and constitutionally-protected activity—is wrong, and it aims to push a sinister narrative to minors that firearms are evil,” said Erich Pratt, GOA’s Senior Vice President. “In turn, as younger generations come of age, they will not question or push back on further violations of our Second Amendment rights.”
“Alvin Bragg and his anti-gun friends have been aggressively pressuring YouTube to censor and directly prohibit certain content related to guns for years now, and sadly they just succeeded and free speech has once again become the victim,” said Aidan Johnston, GOA’s Director of Federal Affairs. “Congress must demand answers from YouTube on how influential DA Bragg and gun control groups were in facilitating this change in policy and determine whether the Biden Administration or it’s White House Office of Gun Control was weaponized to force the censorship of Second Amendment content.”
Rep Massie Takes ATF Head To Task
From Ammoland:
Rep. Masse was referencing an interview that Mr. Dettelbach did with CBS’s “60 Minutes.” It was the same interview where the ATF’s firearms “expert” could not disassemble or assemble a Glock pistol. In the interview, Dettelbach pointed out that someone could buy a Barrett .50 cal in cash. He said that FFLs should report cash purchases to the ATF. Many in the gun community took issue with this statement because it is not illegal to buy firearms with cash, and in many cases, gun owners prefer to use cash, especially since programs such as “Operation Choke Point” exist.
Allowing Postal Service To Ship Ammo Will Undermine Anti-gun States’ Restrictions
From Bearing Arms:
In a recent article, I talked about cloning pro-abortion states’ “Shield Laws” in the context of ammunition. The basic idea is that if pro-abortion states get to undermine anti-abortion states’ laws by shipping abortion pills, why shouldn’t pro-Second Amendment states copy the idea and undermine the unconstitutional laws of anti-Second Amendment states by shipping ammunition?
The postal service is one of the few federal services that is constitutionally mandated in Article 1, Section 8, Clause 7. Everyone, including gun owners, pays taxes to support this constitutionally-mandated service. In other words, it’s OUR postal service, not just the gun control supporters’ personal courier.
The ban on USPS shipping ammunition is obviously a political restriction, not a technical one, and can be traced back to the Gun Control Act of 1968. But, for argument’s sake, let’s say that the ban on USPS shipping ammunition is based on technical reasons associated with hazardous materials. In that case, the postal service should be mandated to build the capability to handle ammunition shipments like UPS and FedEx.
CBS Criticizes Police Departments For Selling Guns To Citizens
From The Truth About Guns:
The report is a synopsis of a larger, previously posted report called, “Police departments sell their used guns. Thousands end up at crime scenes.” In that report, the author nearly got to the truth about how the guns wind up in criminals’ hands, but also left out the most important part.
“Once sold by a department, weapons enter a secondary market where they can be resold to members of the public or other dealers,” the report stated. “By the time they turn up at crime scenes, the guns may have been stolen, traded or resold multiple times with little documentation. They sometimes still have the departments’ name stamped on the side.”
They Hate You, Not The Guns
From The Truth About Guns:
Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was rebuked as an “elite” at an Oxford Union debate on April 25 when she said that certain Americans are “poor souls who are looking for some answers.” Their biggest sin, according to the Speaker Emeritus, is not bowing to the orthodoxy of the gun control elite.
ATF Universal Background Checks Challenged
From The Truth About Guns:
A federal judge has expedited the legal proceedings against a new rule by the ATF that mandates universal background checks on private firearm sales. U.S. District Court Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk’s decision on Friday sets the stage for a rapid review of the contentious rule, which has faced strong opposition from gun rights advocates and several states.
Biden Has Tyrannical Plans For Guns In Second Term
From The Truth About Guns:
President Biden told the “Smartless” podcast, according to Breitbart, that he will “make sure that we do something about gun violence in this country” should he be elected for a second term, adding, “this — the [tree of] liberty is watered with the blood of patriots, I mean, that’s a bunch of crap.”
President Biden specifically took aim at re-enacting the failed 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, that even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention admitted had no effect on crime reduction. He reiterated his disproven claims about “cannon control” and again placed himself as the pre-eminent Second Amendment authority, despite the U.S. Supreme Court clearly establishing the Second Amendment as a right of individual Americans.
NY Judge Cites Religiously Discriminatory Law To Uphold Background Checks For Ammo
From Bearing Arms:
A federal judge in New York has dismissed a challenge to the state’s requirement that every ammunition sale go through a background check, citing a colonial Virginia statute barring Catholics from owning or possessing arms that he says demonstrates a “national tradition” of keeping guns from dangerous people.
Texas’s Suppressor Challenge To Be Heard By Fifth Circuit
From Ammoland:
The lawsuit by the State of Texas, challenging the federal requirement to pay taxes and register homemade silencers, is moving forward in the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Oral arguments are scheduled for April 29, 2024. The case is now known as Paxton v Dettelbach.
Commerce Department Bans Firearm Exports
From The Truth About Guns:
On April 26, the BIS published an Interim Final Rule that cements the supposed 90-day firearm export “pause” (it has been in effect for 180 days already) into permanent policy while also creating additional regulatory burdens.
In response to the announcement, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) said the rule entrenches the Biden Administration’s “whole of government” attack and “is intended to hobble the firearm industry’s ability to compete in the international market under the false pretense of advancing U.S. national security.”
Gun Companies Want Supreme Court To Toss Mexican Lawsuit
From The Truth About Guns:
The industry defendants in Estados Unidos Mexicanos v. Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc., et al., have asked the Supreme Court to consider two questions – whether the lawful production and sale of firearms in the United States is the “proximate cause” of alleged injuries to the Mexican government stemming from cartel-driven violence and if that also amounts to “aiding and abetting” illegal firearms trafficking because Mexico alleges these manufacturers know their products are unlawfully trafficked.
