Entertainment programs always show defensive gun uses going wrong (the sole exception in the last decade is Paramount’s “Yellowstone”). Typically the citizen fails to defend himself and ends up murdered, accidentally shoots a loved one, or poses a danger to himself and the police. As a religion professor, I’ve come to know many students from other countries who identify as Christian. I realized they were puzzled at some of the things Americans often bundled into their faith – things these international Christians didn’t consider relevant to their own religious identity.
One issue in particular sparked a question from a South Asian Christian student: Why did American evangelicals seem to have such an affinity for firearms? For example, Pew Research indicates 41% of white evangelicals own a firearm, compared with 30% of people in the U.S. overall. This unsettled the student, since they shared much of the same theology, and they wanted to know more about this connection.

Court Stops Bump Stock Ban

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit overwhelmingly ruled that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) overstepped its authority when it published a Final Rule that classified bump stocks as “machineguns.” The Trump-era ban was in reaction to the heinous crimes by a depraved murderer in Las Vegas in 2017. The murderer used bump stocks in the commission of his crimes.
Poll: Americans Prefer Living In Gun Communities

This is confirmed by a new RMG Research poll conducted by Scott Rasmussen, which shows that 62% of likely voters say they would prefer living in a community where people are allowed to own firearms. On the flip side, a quarter of voters (25%) say they would rather live in a gun-free community. 13% of voters said they were unsure.

Guns Are Necessary To Protect Minority Speech

Intolerant views are common; everyone has them in one form or another, for one class of people or another. What’s completely unacceptable is when intolerance views morph into aggressive actions.
If you think of the performance as speech, it’s clear that the presence of guns allows that speech to happen. Those who don’t like it can “change the channel” and ignore it; no one is forcing you to whip yourself into an outraged frenzy by attending and watching the show.
Black Shooting Range Shutdown By Maryland

Tomlinson, in particular, said he feared for his safety, since his farm sits downrange from a backstop for bullets on Bell’s property that he called “totally ineffective.”
NICS Continues To Fail, Time To Abolish It

FBI NICS examiners rely on NICS data to determine whether a person is eligible to purchase a firearm.
